wildcam
Would you make a trade for Doug Hamilton 6'6 220 lbs D man 25 years old .. This guy has scored over 40 points the last 4 years..Hamilton has 2 more years remaining on contract after this season at 5.7 million.. Hurricanes would want Gaudette 22, Juolevi 20 and say 1st rounder 2020... This is the type of trade that we have to consider... If we trade Edler or Tanev we would get some assets back.. HI5
First year without Chara or Giordano covering for his mistakes and he isn’t doing so well. Didn’t fit in well with Bruins, Flames and possibly Hurricanes locker rooms. Hard pass.

Not a chance we give up that much for Hamilton, averaging 10 point/season at nearly 6/season... hard pass.

Hamilton comes across as problematic for GMs. If Nucks were going to make a big trade like you have there, I would be wanting Trouba in return. Keep Gaudette though. There very likely are serious reasons why a 6'6" talented (40 plus point) D man has been traded three times in his early career. He hurts his teams more than he helps them. Now, considering that premise of hurting more than helping, what problems could be so serious as to have him moved three times already? I'd say, although they are not public, their are very serious issues with this player. No way do we want him at any price.
canuck_in_england
Don't think we should be trading picks right now, we need to be accumulating them short term. I'd take Trouba from free agency this summer over Hamilton.
Honeydew
I'd pass on this trade. We have zero need to trade for a dman of Hamilton's calibre.
Gaudette Celly
There's a reason he's being passed around the league. Maybe more than one.
PhillipBlunt
Something about Dougie Hamilton spells trouble. On the trade block with every team he plays with within a year or two of being there, yet possesses everything that can make him a dominant defenseman. Phil_314
I would entertain the idea if the team had to trade nothing of value to acquire him. See what they like out of Eriksson/ Del Zotto/ Gagner/ Pouliot/ Granlund/ some mid-level prospect or later pick, not offering near what OP did. At this point he's dropped from the 1st to the 3rd pairing as of current line combinations, and so if they don't value him as an asset over there then they can't expect us to give too much up for him. I would still hope to see someone like him next to Pete on the PP though.
Dr.BRR
pass for me too. I like watching him play but he isn't anything special IMO.

Considering the previous costs of acquiring him have been much higher, I don't think so. Hamilton was traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a first-round draft pick (Zachary Senyshyn) and two second-round picks (Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson) and (Jérémy Lauzon), all in the 2015 Draft. Hamilton was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes (along with teammate Micheal Ferland and prospect Adam Fox) in exchange for Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin. billabong
We don’t have the depth at forward to make a move for Hamilton If he’s dealt, that’ll total Hamiltons been traded 4 times by the time he’s 25...? Red flag anyone?

I'd take Trouba from free agency this summer over Hamilton. Trouba is a RFA at the end of the season, so the Nucks would have to work out a a trade to get him. Of course any trade would have to include a guarantee that he signs. Problem is, it would require a 1st rounder + high end prospect + whatever. Jets seem to be entering salary cap hell and have a lot of rfas to re-sign, so maybe can be done. Trouba is only 24yrs and would be the ideal dman to play alongside Huges. He's a big fast skating, tough guy who is more than competent offensively/defensively. It would likely take any draft pick the Canucks acquire another 3/4 years to make the NHL . Signing Trouba would probably mean a Guddy trade. Imagine this... Edler Tanev Hughes Trouba Hutton Stecher Biega Brisboie/Juolevi callups (hopefully Juolevi can replace Hutton at some point). Red flag anyone? ^ This. Ask yourself why someone who, at his age, brings the type of package he supposedly does, is on the verge of being traded to his 4th club? He's an outcast in his own world - several stories have surfaced after each time he's been traded about how he can't/won't fit into the team culture wherever he lands. He's not a 'team' player. JB has stressed over and over he wants character players to build a positive team culture. HARD PASS on this rumor/proposal/idea/recommendation/whatever it is.....
