Deserves at least 6 mil, the average elite goalie makes. Try some critical thinking and brain power. He has played a total of 1 season and came out of nowhere to have that streak of out standing play. What if it was a fluke? The d core around him? Luck? Other circumstances? You don't give a high dollar long term deal after 1 season of play. It's called a proving deal. Think of a one hit wonder in music/success discography in music. Works sort of the same. Bubble Man
If I was the GM of the Canucks and in this situation I would even care about the salary cap anymore. Demko would be like, “$10x8?” I’d be like “ya whatever”. The salary cap will balance itself
Hairy Kneel
Cool if he is the real deal we can make him an offer in 2 years.
Generational.EP40
Questionable move by Binnington/his agent when he could’ve easily just cashed in. ...doesn’t make sense. Didn’t take money and/or term when the ball was 100% in his court.

SabreFan1
Ottawa's "Hamburgler" was the toast of the NHL several years ago and the Sabres just signed him to their AHL club in Rochester. It doesn't take long for a goalie to come crashing down to earth. Hopefully for Binnington's sake, he's actually good and wasn't just lucky this past season. Pickly
Not a bad deal considering goalies are weird and go on these runs where they look like prime Marty Brodeur only to come back down to earth after time. Take Matt Murray for example. To pay him 6+ Long term is a serious gamble that could haunt the Blues in the long run.

But then again if he's a one year wonder St. Louis covers their butt. I don't know but I think he's the real deal. That’s why he only took 4.4 mil he’s worth 6 mil on the free agent market. He was the main reason that the Blues won the Stanley Cup. But as you said this also covers Blues’ ass-ets in case he’s a one year hit wonder Edited July 14, 2019 by Guest
