We are living in a world where coronavirus could decide whether the Canucks make the playoffs (and also whether they get to keep their 2020 first round pick):

Wonder if they are going to go by point percentage or total points. If they go by total points, the Canucks would miss, if they go by point percentage, the Canucks would be 3rd in the Division.

I wonder how the conditions on our 1st rounder work if the season gets cancelled. As it stands now I think we are out. If the season gets cancelled before tomorrow's game do we keep our pick? Lol.

Prob Battman will fine/penalize us for stealing Miller!

No way they can go by points when some teams have played three less games. Owners would be furious.

Anything as long as they don't decide by lottery. We know how that'll work out for us.

  • Tiebreaker: In the event teams are tied in the standings, the following tiebreakers are applied to determine which team receives the higher seeding.
    • 1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
    • 2. The greater number of games won in regulation (not including games won in overtime or a shootout).
    • 3. The greater number of games won in regulation and overtime (not including games won via shootout).
    • 4. The greater number of games won in any fashion.
    • 5. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
    • 6. Goal differential.
    • 7. Goals scored.
  • Quality team: Team that has more points than games played.

So IF the season gets shut down..Do Canucks keep there 1st round pick?

Yes since the conditions were specifically if we made the playoffs they get the pick.

No playoffs, no pick.

I also think that every team would be in the draft lottery if I had to guess.

If they resume playoffs draft results would continue as normal

If the NHL cancels the season, it is fine with me, to be honest.  Health and to stop the virus from spreading even further is more important.   I do not want players to be infected and impact their future career or even his life is not worth the risk.   I just read this page about keeping the 1st round pick if the season is cancelled with no playoffs or worrying about salary cap being lower is disgusting, health comes first before the sport.   If we ever come through and hockey is back in near future when pandemics has contained under control or there's vaccine available for this diseases then we can discuss on impact of the CBA between the owner and the PA.  This is not time or place for that, imho..
