[Speculation] Erik Gustafsson to test free agency

Recommended Posts

He had 1 season where he absolutely light it up from the back-end. Seems more like a offensive/powerplay specialist type of player. He is a 3rd pairing D-man who would put up some points playing on a team's top unit Powerplay. Won't be a good fit here because no way Hughes isn't our QB for the first unit powerplay. I could see him go somewhere like Pittsburgh, especially if they move on from Letang and Schultz.

Somehow, I thought it was Erik Gudbranson.

And if it were Gud, I was thinking that it might be worth bringing him back at 2-3 mil to pair with Hughes.

Hughes is a top pairing D.  I don’t want Gud anywhere near the top four.  Though we could’ve used some of his physical play in the Vegas series.

I guess as in all things, whats the price? Once Jim's done everything else and we need a bottom pairing guy? I'd rather see Juolevi tho

Leafs are all in then.  Fits perfectly with their no defense D corps.

don't blame the guy? more I like don't blame the Ducks.  even a bad team doesn't want him it speaks for itself how bad Gudbranson has become over the past 3 years.

Ducks aren't complaining. He's performed better there than he has in Pittsburgh or Vancouver and they got him for nothing.

They know he's not a permanent fit, he's just there as a stop gap.

Hockeybuzz did a poll and 60% of the people(over a 100 people) said that they were happy with his performance given the expectations and circumstances around the Ducks.

LOL sure thing.

it's the truth. They understand that his underlying numbers aren't great but he's there as a stop gap and so far with them his corsi numbers are better than the team average despite being the defenseman with most Dzone starts.

He isn't a defenseman you want on a team that trying to win but the Ducks are rebuilding and he fits a role as a stop gap rebuilding defenseman.

wow he was 0 plus minus this season shocking.

What's shocking with that? Here people say he played good when teamed with Edler. When he and Pouliot were together it wasn 't so good.

Look at Myers, it's the same there. Put Myers with Pouliot and $&!# happens... Myers cost 6 million.
