  1. Canucks could use a Bieksa guy on the back end, guy was a heart and soul Canuck providing grit and swagger will still posting 40+ points 3 times
  2. Hughes Juolevi Woo Brisebois some nice depth on the back end starting to build up.
  3. one of our two fourth rounders we traded for Samuel Pahlsson turned into Josh Anderson

      goalie13

If we kept that pick, maybe Gillis selects Ben Thomson, Kevin Roy or Erik Karlsson instead and then this status update doesn't even happen.

      Good drafting CBJ.

  4. 2015 NHL draft has the potential to rival 2003

Totally agree. I think that the high-end talent in '15 is better than in '03.

  5. Having Ovi definitely helps but their team is built on size and speed

  6. Benning should sign Balazs Sebok

  7. Thread is pretty quiet, I know the opposition hasn't been world class but its nice to see Bo showing he more than belongs with the calibre of players on his team. Bo has 30 goal 30-40 assist potential, with his 200ft play that is one heck of a first line centre. if Kesler improved to the point where he put up 40 goals, and back to back 70 point seasons I think Bo's potential is sky-high. I love using Kesler as a comparison as both of their games are built from the ground up meaning they learned to do the little things and play hockey the right way before trying to be to ambitious with their skill moves. Bo Horvat: Ryan Kesler D+3 40 points, 16 goals, 82 games D+3 23 points, 10 goals, 82 games D+4 52 points, 20 goals, 81 games D+4 16 points, 6 goals, 48 games D+5 44 points, 22 goals 64 games D+5 37 points, 21 goals, 80 games D+6 59 points, 26 goals, 80 games D+7 75 points, 25 goals, 82 games ( Career year ) D+8 73 points, 41 goals, 32 assists ( Career year ) Again same with Kesler, Horvat has shown progression and growth every single year. Comparing time lines I would be not be surprised to see a consistent range of 60-80 points for the next 5 years for Horvat, he will be a guy who is respected around the league and is a guy any team would have in their top 6.
  8. I hope Lawrence PIlut is on Bennings radar

The rumours are saying that the Sabres are signing him.

    2. Quantum

      Quantum

Seems to have signed with Buffalo -- http://buffalonews.com/2018/04/30/reported-sabres-signee-pilut-named-swedish-leagues-top-defenseman/

That said, I'm really intrigued by Joel Persson, Elias Pettersson's teammate, he's only 23. Could be a great under the radar signing considering Persson only made his SHL debut this season and held up nicely with Vaxjo this season. He's also garnered some NHL interest.

  9. Sidney Crosby has only played 1 full season since he entered the league, Imagine what his point totals would be without all the concussions...

Think about how good they could be right now if they didnt screw up those 3 first round picks in a row a few years ago.

It's almost as if someone in the Boston front office was really good at finding excellent players in later rounds during the mid-late 00s

       to early 10s.

    4. coastal.view

you might be correct dr funk

maybe we should go out and hire that person

  11. Even though I was definitely in the crowd of underrating him I would also take him over Gaunce. I love his effort I feel he's a bit like Hansen early is his career, with his speed being a double edged sword, way faster than has hands can keep up, but fast enough to fly around and be a great energy guy.
  12. Leafs gonna lose Bozak or JVR ( I doubt both ) Nylander is RFA and gonna be a big raise. Likely Plekanec gone, Polak is gonna need a raise from his 1.1, Komarov needs a new deal, Dominic Moore as well. Could be a very different team next year. That Kadri deal is very good I would take him on the Canucks any day

@coastal.view they'll need to re-sign Matthews, Marner and Gardiner in a year though. Factor in Nylander's big raise this year and all that money will disappear fast.

    3. coastal.view

      coastal.view

i think they will worry more about the matthew and other contract issues

after they see how the team plays next year

and which players need to be moved on

and how much the cap goes up

too many variables for any team to try to plan that all with detail currently

they just have to leave themselves with options to create flexibility

keep those new contracts all without trade restrictive clauses except for the core players

    4. Pears

      Pears

I don’t want Kadri anywhere near this team. I don’t even want him in the same time zone.

  13. anyone got a link to the artemi panarin article?

  14. I like Leipsic waaaaaay more than Motte
  15. I think the twins would rather go out on a semi positive note ( 45-50 points ) rather than a dragged out year where the fans can't wait to see them leave (25-35 points)

  16. I wonder what it would take to acquire Lindell from Dallas

    1. Mr.DirtyDangles

      Mr.DirtyDangles

      i like lindell mad potential

  17. Rasmus Ristolainen posted 15 points in 52 games in his draft eligible year, he is a 1994 birthday so the year before he posted 8 points in 40 games. Sami Vatanen in his draft +1 year posted 30 points in 55 games, D+2 31 points in 52 games, D+3 42 points in 49 games Esa Lindell D+1 0 points in 19 games, D+2 5 points in 44 games, D+3 35 points in 57 games Markus Nutivaara D+3 2 points in 35 games, D+4 22 points in 50 games Olli Juolevi D+2 19 points in 38 games
  18. Edler plays on the Canucks and he has 5 more points than any D on the Oilers who are playing with Draisaitl, McDavid ect

  19. To me its a positive that he has a picture of him with the canucks as his profile picture on instagram still
  20. Benning looking like a genius for the Burrows/Hansen deals, I cant believe how much they have fallen off

    1. HerrDrFunk

      HerrDrFunk

As good as those deals look with the benefit of hindsight, it's a bummer to see.

    2. Coconuts

      Coconuts

I'm more surprised by how Hansen has fallen off, him and the Sharks really haven't been a fit.

  21. Imagine if we won #2 pick and ended up with Patrick

Have a feeling Benning still would have taken EP.  CDC would have erupted even worse.

    3. Toews

      Toews

Didn't the Canucks have a d-man pretty high on their list as well? I am high on both Makar and Heiskanen, so I would not have been displeased with that outcome.

  22. I could see Benning trading a forward prospect for a D prospect 1 for 1 this off season

      Goldobin for Madison Bowey?

both aren’t living up to expectations. Always liked Bowey.

      Baertschi+Hutton for Honka+4th?

      Would you do it?

    4. Fateless

      Fateless

@Alflives - Baer has a lot of value. The guy is a legitimate top six forward and is still young.

Goldobin not so much... I'd take a second for him if offered (similar to what we paid for an underperforming Baer).

  23. That Ethan Bear, and Bear family story in general is pretty cool

  24. Remember when the Canucks used to do their post game interviews on the exercise bikes lmao
