  1. Canucks taking step back this coming year. 25 million on bottom six forwards screwing us.

    1. ken kaniff

      ken kaniff

Apparently that’s all ok tho according to many people on this forum. We don’t want to spend money and term on useful players but would rather overpay for borderline NHL players who handcuff our team

Not liking that Myers contract either.

  2. Predictions on how much Hoffman, Dadonov and Mikeal Granlund are gonna get in free agency?

  3. pass pass pass pass all we do

  4. If my wish came true this summer Benning would be able to git rid of Sutter,Baer,Beagle,Eriksson,Benn and Ferland. I like Roussell over Ferland and think Toffoli will do great with Bo and Tanner. Enough giving FA Term and Dollars to grinders.Other teams seem to be able to sign them to lower cap deals.

Not good at the moment $19.73 million dollars tied up on 4th line players and cap penalties for next year when we should be competing. (Including Sutter) 23.9% of the current salary cap

  7. Liked the physical play tonight.

Our guys pounded the Wings into giving up.  A lot of their players wanted nothing to do with the puck.

      Me too. What a game!

  8. Petey holds on to the puck too long when he gets a pass...he needs to  release it right away.

  9. I could see Canucks trading Sutter and Pearson if they stay healthy and preform well enough for some interest at trade deadline.

Depends on how well Pearson and Sutter do, what may be offered in return, and how ready our prospects are to take over the roles. If Pearson looks really good on Bo's wing, then I imagine they hold onto him for the foreseeable future, unless an opportunity comes to land that coveted first pairing D to play on the right side, at which point Pearson could be quite an enticing piece to include in a potential package going the other way. With Sutter I imagine it's more of a "Once Gaudette is 100% ready to take the role we move him for whatever we can get" type scenario.

    3. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Sutter yes, Pearson unless he struggles mightly, I say no.

    4. RetroCanuck

      RetroCanuck

For the right offer almost anyone is tradeable. I don't think playoffs should be our main goal this year but instead incorporating our rookies into key spots. Hughes, Demko, Juolevi and MacEwen should all be given the opportunity to take spots and keep them.

I think if Baertschi is healthy he or Pearson can be traded. Just take the best price. My trade list by preference to be traded (if healthy).

      Eriksson (loss)

      Schaller (7th)

      Sutter (2nd)

      Tanev (1st)

      Markstrom (1st +)

      Pearson or Baertschi (2nd)

My concern is that Caufield isn't fast. Small and average skating is not a good combo.

    3. Dazzle

      Dazzle

@Ghostsof1915 His skating is disappointing for sure; however, his goal scoring instincts are top-notch. One of the very best in the draft, according to one draft report.

    4. Silky mitts

      Silky mitts

Caufield size scares me because we don’t have a particularly big top six. Look at how neutralized Johnny hockey is in the playoffs . If we had a bunch of big players I think the size would be less of a gamble as of how we are constructed right now I don’t think he will be a good fit . Just my two cents .

  11. Tampa getting rid of Stralman and Callahan. would help there cap space for Karlsson

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Canucks need to be trying to pry Tyler Johnson from TBL in this deal. Tyler would become the 2C the Canucks need. And if the Canucks can get a pick on top of that, it would just be the sweetener on top of it all.

  12. I get people perspective on Jake's poor development and blaming the Canucks for it, But Jake also has to put effort into his game. I look at Bo and he looks like he working hard basically every game and I dont see that from Jake. Good to see him go down and hopefully he start working on his work ethic and start putting the puck in the back of the net.

    2. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

Situations like these are rarely dichotomies where one side is solely responsible. Both the Canucks and Jake are at fault for the current situation.

    3. The Weasel

      The Weasel

Bo's got that hard work farm boy mentality. Virtanen's hockey iq just isn't very high and he takes extremely selfish penalties (wjc's, etc). He needs to go down to the minors, but i'm still not sure if that will help him out. i just don't think his ceiling is very high.

    4. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

      Who was he worse than?

      Chaput?

Bottom line is they wanted to see if he could turn it around. A guy with size and some skill around the net.

I would argue that Gaunce should also be sent down. He's not doing much either.

  13. is hudler gonna get signed?

      He's better on the wing.
This is like saying Brock Boeser can play center and wing just because he wins faceoffs - there's an art to the role of center. You have to think the game from that spot for a long period of time before you can call yourself a bonafide centerman.
I think Dubois would have to play a few seasons at C before being able to step into any kind of professional center role. He's always been more of a winger.
