MoneypuckOverlord
Epic fail when Kevin Lowe said there are no managers in the league that has more Stanley cups then c Mac. Fail. Me all know Lowe and c Mack were riding on Wayne Gretzky. It's also a huge f Difference building a hockey team vs playing in for the cup.

wallstreetamigo
I am very interested to see how this turns out actually. MacTavish is promising to be aggressive and willing to look at all options for adding the types of players they need. Luongo would actually be a very good fit for the Oilers although good luck Gillis trading him to Edmonton.

nuckin_futz
So MacT goes from AHL coach to NHL GM within a year. Man that's strange.

CHIPS
I guess Tembo is coming back to Vancouver for some management or scouting job. Here is what Tembo bought in to help boost the Oilers into the playoffs: Mike Brown, Mark Fistric, Jerred Smithson. So Tembo neither stacked up for the playoffs or rebuild. He made a bunch of non-effects moves that ends up costing the Oilers more draft picks. And now they are tanking to rock bottom with no #1 pick this year. And so he was fired. khay
For some reason, the hiring of McTavish gives me a hunch that Nugent-Hopkins will end up with us in few years or so...
Honky Cat
I like Mac T...I think that he has a fairly astute hockey mind, but Im not sure how that translates into being a good GM.....He will be an improvement over Tambellini though....Should be an interesting off season...Any bets on the Oilers trading one of their forwards and their 1st pick before this years draft? Dr. Hockey
Why is that a boo-boo??!!! That team needs that type of player, badly.
aqua59
This is what happens when you don't take tank for the #1. Why are they bringing Howson into the organization?

Tortorella's Rant
The best move he made was trading Penner for Colten Teubert and a 1st round pick. Other then that, he barely did anything but tank the team to the 1st pick.
MoneypuckOverlord
Teubert sucks. WJ star, that's the highlight of his career. I think only about half the guys you see on Canada's WJ squad actually become full time NHL'ers. Some other names come to mind: Legein, Godfrey, Della-Rovre. Pretty big names at the time, have done jack since.
grandmaster
About time, the coilers haven't made the playoffs in like 10 years!
DownUndaCanuck
Stupid move, they should be trying to do everything Pittsburgh and Chicago did. Those 2 franchises had great patience, built 2 amazing cores and won Cups. Tambellini had done so much so well for so long. Sure the Oilers sucked, but this season was a step in the right direction and I believe with one more high pick and development, next year would have been a sure-playoff year. Under Tambellini, the Oilers were 1 season away from a playoff birth IMO, and maybe 3 away from legitimately contending for a cup.
