I don't understand the mindset either Cerridwen. If we get a higher pick from losing, that's just where the chips are gonna fall- I'm not going to cheer for it and it goes against the spirit of competition. It's like the latest "fad" for fans nowadays and it's about as cool as skinny jeans on overweight men imo.

Now this I can get behind:ph34r:

i mean.  You're right.  Not cool.

The 351 doesn't go to White Rock?

351 is White Rock to Richmond now.  And I don't know Richmond at all so I opted to take the 321 to surrey central and then hop on the skytrain.

Biega, Virtanen, Granlund on the ice in OT.  Not sure what tankers want beyond that. Dorsett? Too obvious, can't do that. If you measure the strides the young guys have taken this year, I see why Willy is getting another year.  WD relaxing with his substitutions and he actually mixed up the lines during the game.  But I hope he goes back to Horvat, Baer and Virt.  Let those guys marinate some more together particularly now that Virtanen is going.   That line alone will sell tickets the rest of the year.  Aquilini family should insist.  If I was out there I would definitely be scooping up cheap tickets just to see that line.

Haven't followed the Canucks that closely until Utica became the farm team, but Sbisa seems to have gotten better over the course of the year and extra minutes and responsibility hasn't hurt him at all.  He is giveaway prone, but with Hamhuis, Tanev, Edler, Hutton a year older next year, and maybe one more top 4 guy out of free agency and Pedan/Tryamkin you are getting to a pretty solid D with reliable Bulldog back there too.  How many puck battles did Biega win last night.  7 or 8?  Amazing at his size. Miller can take it easy the rest of the season so you don't risk much for next year health wise, and Marky gets enough work with zero pressure on him to win.

I think Burrows deserves credit for the way he has played.  I don't know if he will be back, but I think he might because who takes on his contract?  That won't be terrible if that happens.

It should go to the Richmond Centre/Bridgeport exchange and Skytrain, and you grab the Canada Line to downtown. They should extend the skytrain to South Surrey/White Rock. But I guess that's for the Transit thread.

I hope the Canucks win every game left in the season, but I hope we get a top 5 pick more. The Canucks aren't the worst team in the league this year, that's probably TOR. I'm assuming the Canucks won't get Matthews, and if not, then I hope he goes to TOR (east). We certainly don't need EDM getting him, to play with McDavid? Yikes. I will be thrilled if we land Chychrun or Juolevi.

It would be a different situation if we didn't have the injuries we've had this year (Henrik, Sutter, Edler, Hamhuis, etc), but I'm happy for the young guys getting a chance to play regular minutes. Great experience for them moving forward. And a win here and there gives them a little confidence. It'll come together, next season.

As for Burrows, I feel a little sad about that. He's given the Canucks some great years, slaying the dragon against CHI, shooting imaginary arrows to Bourdon after scoring, his excellent PK and occasional short-handed goals, getting the opposition off their game. It's really too bad he still has a year of $4.5, as it's expensive for what he brings these days. I think we'll lose him after this season. Unfortunately, if we buy him out, some other team will sign him for cheap and he'll be a good bottom 6 player and PK specialist for whoever he plays for. Please, don't let it be EDM.

No...actually.  We should be patient.  Most players need some time to adjust to a new team.

And the work that has been put in with Vey, Baer, Virt gives me confidence that the coaching staff is completely committed to the young guys.  It's refreshing to see.

Gallows humour.

lighten up.

-longtime fan

Was it 'gallows humour' when the 'tanknation' crap talk started  last Fall?

Can we not just enjoy watching the young guns play without all the 'tanknation' crap in every GDT.....in every PGT?

Apparently not. So what's your next move?

This is my 13th year on this board, seen it all. But this season is truly the first time I've ever seen this whole 'tanknation'  crap so pervasive. And it is insulting to all long term and loyal Canucks fans. Not to mention our team on the ice.

I think that the actual tank crowd has always been the minority and there is quite a bit of tongue in cheek going on with many people. There is the reality that this year is a top heavy draft with some exceptional talent and a new draft lottery system that puts all of the non-playoff teams in on the top 3. Everyone gets excited about the lottery even when it's a long shot.

Granlund showed his high level playmaking abilities in this game - easily could have had two or three nice primary assists.

Nice to see him score the gamewinner.

Locals may start to wake up to how talented he is in due course.

Excellent forechecker as well - puck pressure style ala Burrows - takes away time and space and together with his linemates have really applied pressure down low in the ozone - with some good possession as a result.

Nice game for Sbisa as well - has missed nearly half the season but continues to progress nicely.

He looked good last night I agree. Nice to see some shots from him. He was pretty bad against LA though. The PP sure did look fun with him in it though. He is an intriguing player for sure. Patients I suppose with all these guys.

that will be the loine next year, I'm sure.  right now he's saying who has chemistry with whom.......they already know those three work well, this is a good time time to see who else they work with.
