Avalanche are proving that you can still win and be competitive by shedding vets and playing the young guys more.  Edmonton isn't the only example to look at. They failed for so long because of other reasons, their old boys club management, arrogance, and too many mistakes and mismanagement with their gift picks.

The Avs are 15 and 5 since trading Duchene.  What are the Sens since acquiring Duchene?  Sometimes, like you point out, a team needs to move out certain players, to allow youth to step forward.

And which player on the Canucks is trading out Matt Duchene anything like...? A 2C in his prime that attends training camp solely to honor his contract and out of respect for his teammates, not because he wanted to be there and to win with that team. Duchene was the elephant in the room,  and a dark cloud over the organization...but the avs had an abundance of amazing young players obviously ready to take that next step... We don't have any players that the sedins or Edler are taking spots from or holding back... The same goes for Eriksson, Vanek or Gagner. The fans are the people that don't want the sedins and Edler to play... not the players.

IMO the Duchene/avalanche story doesn't apply to the Canucks whatsoever but I guess overall I agree with the statement.

Really like the lines Green had rolling before the break.  Love LE with Horvat especially.  Doubt we win this one but hoping for a solid 60 mins of effort.

Time to Brock N Roll.

Eriksson was moved off the Horvat line by the 2nd period last game.  He is playing with Sutter and Granlund.
