if it’s 2 years, edler TRULY wants to play here.

Sounds like Edler has dropped the NMC ask, which means Benning didn't cave. If Benning gives Edler three years without a NMC, this is amazing news for us and JB should be applauded, as the issue for JB and the team has never been about the cost and length but rather being forced to protect him in the ED. I'm guessing a deal gets done today or tomorrow.

Benning didn't cave on the ED protection, that's the biggest factor IMO.

Beyond that, Edler's agent's likely asking for 4 years, Benning holding at 2. I'd imagine they'll compromise and meet in the middle at 3.

My guess is Benning will leave them two offers - 2 years HANDSOMELY paid or 3 years at a lower hit. Edler can decide if he wants defacto ED protection and more upfront $ by being UFA in 2 years or the added security of that 3rd year. His choice.

Excellent news, can’t wait till official as long as there is no, no move clause beyond 2 years it’s better than losing assets in a trade or paying more money and term to other UFAs not to mention at his current playing ability Edler may be the best available d-man.

This is exactly it and we should be good with either option.

5-5.5M per season

3rd year does not have the NMC.

That would be awesome!  Very fair deal for both sides, and Edler gets to retire a Canuck.  Now we don't need to go and overspend on a FA.

How is it 3 years, Benning gave in?

People just wait for any reason to **** on Benning.

3 years is perfectly reasonable term for Edler.

And Edler has been here how many years and whom has he mentored?

... the point of my point in that quote is that there game requires very little mentoring..  perhaps 4 vets per team.

I'm pretty sure there's been multiple reports, from the Canuck kids, about important Edler has been to them this season.

Image result for stupid is as stupid does gif

3 years, at $5.5m with no ED protection is a huge, huge win for Benning, I agree
