[Signing] Montreal Offer Sheets Aho

Recommended Posts

Jesus people...

You guys want a guy who signed an offer sheet from another team?

AND you want to trade Boeser for him? He's a loyal character from what it seems like.

No, no no. Just no. Loyalty goes a LONG way.

Name a player that has stuck with the same team after signing an Offer sheet.

David Backes after we offer sheeted him. Went on to become the blues captain for years and only left St. Louis because the blues knew he didn't have much left, so didn't want to sign him to a bad contract like Boston did.

Canes need 8 more roster players under contract. They have 22.7 million in cap . Which leaves 16.2 after Aho for 7 more players. If Justin Williams doesn’t retire ($4.5) they have 11.7 left for 6 . I doubt Reimer is their starting goalie, they are going to have to spend to the cap.

Considering Montreal was in a dog fight for the wildcard , maybe they gained an advantage even if Carolina matches.

Yeah, didn't think so.

Ohlund did for 11 years by the time he went to Tampa he had 1 effective season left in him.

Also Sakic.

What an obtuse thing to say.   The haul from Montreal could be very impressive.     There are few small markets that deserve a team more.

A (probably latter half) first, second, and third would be s very impressive haul for an elite young player?

Yeah, didn't think so.

Ohlund signed one with the Leafs, then stayed with us for over a decade, and Backes stuck around quite a while with St Louis after signing one with us.  Sakic also signed one with the Rangers.

...but you have to make room for him.   Which of Horvat/EP40 do you move on from?

Likely means Montreal tries to offersheet Brock once this gets matched.  Benning would be wise to get something done in this window so they can control term.

Brock isn’t eligible for an offer sheet or arbitration, so it’s either sign with us, or a trade

He can't sign an offersheet

Phew.  Gave me a minor heart attack.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Bergevin go all-in on Point though.  Heat got turned up on all RFAs here.
