I still think there could be a bit of that out there... I think a big issue is that JB wasn’t willing to give out a lot of term and security, at least regarding Marky and Tanev. Not like he hasn't handed that to players who haven't paid their dues for the Canucks. But I can understand why Benning took this position *now*. He's got to plan for the cap going forward. That was one of the reasons he signed here, which is a sign he's not satisfied and wants to get better. That's the mindset you want. Sure going to miss Marky's level of compete and intensity. For sure... like I said it’s a hard pivot this offseason but JB’s always seemed to me to be a pretty straightforward guy. Team was bad? Throw everything at the wall to get out of that hole. Now that we need to start thinking about the cap, he’s going to make some hard calls. Could there have a bit more finesse? Sure.. but we’re pointed in the right direction even if we tread a little water this year doing some housekeeping. (At least that’s what I hope happens...
