Why do you say stuff like this?  This virus is completely new, and we are discussing what’s going on so we can all better understand it.  What’s your view on its spread, and our current government measures to protect the high risk groups?

Short answer, because its true.

Long answer, there are some on here that are just riling people up, saying stupid and irresponsible things.

As far as my opinion goes, if you need advice on financials and  stock market, I am your guy.

In regards to this virus, I recommend reading posts by infectious disease specialists or virologists.

I know what the Prime Minister said about staying home and such.  I don’t understand the concept of the healthy younger people, who have no symptoms, spreading the virus to one another.  A lead doc in California said 50-70 percent of that state’s population will get this virus.  We will not test that many people, so how do these experts know that stuff?  Are they extrapolating using the number of people who are likely asymptomatic based on age or something?

Possibly, I just think it’s better to be cautious and vigilant and to listen to them since they have much more knowledge on this than we do.

Could be that it’s very difficult to limit the exposure to the at risk community unless we all apply the same guidelines and recommendations they lay out.

You are a Covid-19 apologist.

If a person is young and healthy what does the recent data show is that person’s chance of getting really sick from Covid 19?  Why can’t we discuss these numbers and stuff instead of being rude?  This is a way more important topic than any we’ve had on CDC, right?  Maybe we should accept none of us really know a whole heck of a lot about this, and try to help one another understand better?  Now, if you don’t mind, why would a healthy young person (who is at extremely low risk of even showing symptoms) isolate themselves?  I don’t see the reason for this.  Please enlighten me.  Thank you.

Thank you for that.  But if none of us really knows what’s up with this virus, then how can anyone be wrong?  How can something be considered stupid or irresponsible if we don’t know what’s really going on?  Isn’t the whole purpose of the current protocols of social distancing and being extra cautious to protect our high risk citizens?  Young healthy people, from the recent data, don’t show symptoms, right?  Why should they isolate themselves then?  That’s the part I don’t understand.  Shouldn’t they just stay away from high risk people?

The amount that they saved by dumping stock should be forfeited to the families of those that have died from COVID-19... on top of going to jail.

Her husband is the CEO of the NYSE.

She was in a private meeting about the virus with heads of the CDC and NIH on the day she sold, while continuing to downplay the virus in public.
These people MUST be held accountable.

Hell is too lenient of punishment for her and everyone who cashed out before warning the public.

"Senators are required to regularly disclose that information, but in January she requested an extension from Senate ethics officials. A full accounting of her finances will not be public until May."

Anyone have any spare pitchforks that you don't need in May?

I've been around here long enough to know what a waste of time any of that would be so I'll just say this. The bottom line is the longer these "healthy" fools run around spreading this virus the longer this all goes, and the longer those of us who are abiding by the recommendations have to suffer. Not sure why this even has to be explained at this point?

I’m clearly no expert, but don’t these “fools” (as you call them) build the herd immunity by infecting one Another?  Wouldn’t this shorten the virus affect on the population?  Yes, I’m obviously confused on this.  Let me try to explain my thinking.  We have no vaccine, so to gain herd immunity we can’t immunize.  That means (again my thinking) we need 50-70 percent if the population to actually contract the virus, and become immune to its effects, to protect us all, no?  So aren’t these “fools” doing what is going to happen anyway, but they’re just speeding things up?  When I read this, it sounds crazy (I know) but how does the virus stop without this happening, considering we don’t have a vaccine?

Lot of folks have this notion that this virus kills only old and sick people.

Therefore if you are young and healthy you have nothing to worry about.

Also if you have no symptoms you must be fine, now we know that you could have no symptoms but still have it and spread it.

For example spring break, thousands of “low risk” people packed in bars/clubs doing body shots, grinding, exchanging bodily fluids.

Few hundred get sick, show no signs, spread to hundreds more, who spread it to thousands more.

Eventually it will get to old and sick, overwhelm the hospitals and ICU and kill doctors and medical staff.

Because healthy people can be carriers for the masses. Full stop. End of discussion.

So, until there is a vaccine, how do we stop it from eventually infecting the masses?  This is where I get confused.

12 to 18 months!  Okay, I need more TP, and scotch.

Hopefully before then, we'll get to a "cautionary" period where the virus is more or less contained. Where things are not 100% back to normal, but we're also not 100% housebound.

It's hard to imagine things ever going back to 100% normal actually. So I won't hold you back from loading up on scotch!

If everyone that is sick gets sick at home it can be treated and contained. Rather than spreading the virus while going on about their business up until they experience symptoms.

If everyone that doesn't get sick, doesn't get sick while at home, rather than running around like a bunch of fools potentially catching and spreading it, then it is contained.

@debluvscanucks I retract my earlier defense of @samurai

@StealthNuck @Templeton PeckI am aware that I have no power here, but I don't believe this person is acting in good faith, and, furthermore, is actively spreading horse$&!# information that is in no way relevant to us in BC. I specifically targeted @debluvscanucks earlier comment because I do feel that the number of times someone speaks to or about a thing should not be subject to mod action, but the content obviously should be.

We're trying to overcome a pandemic here and this dip$&!# is actively persuading people to go out in public to socialize if they don't have symptoms, completely contradicting the State of Emergency declared by Mike Farnworth for BC, Mayor Kennedy Stewart in Vancouver, as well as the Federal Government of Canada clear and obvious concern for the situation.

Ban this clown.

I accept you’re upset.  I’m not trying to do that.  I really just want to discuss the topic.  Clearly we need to protect the at risk population.  I think our government imposed protocols do that.
