07 '16' was flooded for 9 days in mid may,  food supplys etc for haida Gwaii rupert had to be shipped rather than trucked, right now the run off is been pretty gradual but theres still lots of snow on the north faces , the skeena as we speak  is still running high and fast which is some what late for it to be doing that. not good for the  fish. recent  years have seen drought to extreme hi river flow.

Skeena wild steelhead....  wow.

Fished the copper river one time also .  Amazing beauty.

No such thing as bad weather there's only bad rain coats  btw my 23 years as a  hwys driver between rupert , terrace the section holds a canadian  24  hour snowfall record 12ft         shames mountain. 02IMG_0684.jpg

Not sure when that was, I worked in Terrace from summer 81 to summer 84.  One week during one of those winters it snowed 4+ feet over just over 24 hours.  It was the craziest thing I'd ever seen, and I grew up in NE BC.  Some of the strip malls were buried because of the snow and drifting.  It can definitely snow in that country....and rain LOL!  I was lucky in that I never had to be rerouted to Pr Rupert flying into Terrace.  Did however have to be rerouted to Grande Prairie when flying into Dawson Creek.  Gripped the armrests pretty tight on that flight, loud cracking outside, told by the flight attendant that it was just ice breaking free from the wings.  I guess that was better than ice not breaking free, but it was nervewracking and made the landing in Grande Prairie and the bus ride back a happy ending.

This is actually true. Several years ago, a family from South Africa immigrated here, because the father and all of the children suffered from Porphyria

yep

i knew that

which is why i posted that info

there are very few places in the entire world

that are more or less safe from the sun

and rupert is one of them

sucks for companies that sell sun screen up there though

ps... my superficial knowledge of a vast variety of topics could fill a large library with very thin books :frantic:

One thing about living in a town where it rains a lot....I haven't once had to shovel the rain out of my driveway....

I'd actually consider moving there. The only problem for me would be the feeling of isolation.

I grew up in PG. Graduated from PGSS in '79. Still have a sister who lives there....

Nice. I graduated from KRSS in 2001.

I keep getting asked if I'm tough...

Edit: Wow. I literally put in my birthyear as my graduation year. Fixed.

I lived out on the Hart for a while. Didn't seem any tougher than the area around Fort George Park, where I grew up....

(I edited my post by the way. I derped. lol)

Yeah I can see Fort George Park area being fairly tough depending on which area around it. I think there just happens to be a perception of the school I went. lol

Yeah. I played volleyball and basketball out there a couple of times. I could see it...

Played hockey out at the ElksCenter quite a few times as well.

Saw this on twitter.....

Beijing’s population is 21.5 million. 100 new cases in past 5 days. Closing schools, testing everyone & locking down.

BC has pop 5.1 million & 50 cases over the past 5 days. Response? Only test 971 people, still no masks  in schools & look to next phase of opening the economy.

It's China.  100 new cases is probably more like 10,000 new cases.

Lol.
