Poolman for $2.5 Million for 4 years at a 7% WAR ?

I don't get into the advanced stats too much, but 3x2 would have worked.  However, on FA day the overpayments are usually much worse than this.  I would hardly call it the worst of the day.

I think that is certainly our most questionable deal today.

Which is actually good, as it isn't in the top 5 of Benning's worse FA signings.

Today there were only two signings that made me cringe for their respective teams.  Hyman and Danault contracts are going to be problems I think.

For the Canucks, all the contracts were great except for Poolman.  That one is a wait and see as the jury appears to be out on him.  Either way it won't be a huge impact if it goes south.

Coleman at 4.9 for 6 years.

he's one b2b cups, I just question whether the fire will still be there for the duration of that contract. I see him regressing next season on a less talented team.

I want to say the Hyman deal is disastrous as well, but he will be playing with 2 of the best players in the league so he can inflate his numbers to make that contract seem fine.

Mike Hoffman 3 years @ 4.5 MTL

Jake McCabe 4 years at 4.0 CHI

Blake Coleman 6 years @ 4.9 CGY

Granlund 4 years @ 5.0 NSH

Wennberg 3 years @ 4.5 SEA

Hyman 7 years @ 5.5 EDM

Those all seem quite terrible to me.

Controversy aside Hoffman is still a darn good player with a pretty good deal
