Perfect! Just what I was hoping for! Veteran, connected guy with cup experience as POHO and now we need to find a younger, more modern GM for a broader base of ideas and perspectives.

I've been very critical of FA in the past months but he is proving me wrong.

 

There is no way JM will put up with meddling from FA, if it ever was true.

Well we know we will be active in trade market.

I like that is experienced winner but not the choice I would have made.

Hope they do add a good GM as well.  Would really love to see some diversity added to leadership group.  

NHL exec offices really need some diversity of opinion.

I could see the Aqualini's wanting someone with a connection with the Canucks trained. Ryan Johnson , Sedin's  or someone else with an organizational connection.

Really? People are upset by this move? That is ridiculous. Rutherford is a well known and well respected name in hockey. His name alone improves the caliber of GM this team can attract. Lombardi may consider it. I know I would seeing how this team is playing under Boudreau. 

 

A couple of trades, one for a true top right defenseman, will be of short order, I'm assuming. By the newly hired Gm and not Rutherford though.

This exactly, everyone talks about this, but there is ZERO evidence that it was ever happening. Just all idle speculation.

Mixed feelings on this one.
 

On the one hand Jim Rutherford is an experienced Hockey Exec and has won 3 Stanley Cups. On the other hand there were some questionable moves in there as well (but that can be said of any exec). 

 

My concern would be that he comes in and blows the team up, which I don’t think we need.
 

In my opinion the Coaching change fixed a lot of our problems and only minor tweaks are needed with personnel. Time will tell.
