So stoked. This team is a D rework away from being a legit contender

Calling a Bo extension of 8 years, 6.5 million per now. No way they trade their 2nd/3rd line center

I'm happy for the rest of the team too. Miller is a heart and soul guy for this team.

I think for guys like our captain Bo, it shows him that management wants to win by re-signing Miller with that bolstered FWD group.

It should be encouraging for him too.

The real question is How quick can we get the horvat signing/trade thread to 1200 pages.

14 mil + whatever the cap goes up by to re-sign Bo, Kuzmenko, some more d after next season. It'll require moving a F. But certainly not an impossible situation.

Lol, JT held to his guns whereas Rutherford and his assistant buckled and abandoned their principles.

I’m happy JT is back, but not at any - particularly this - cost and term. Hope it turns out to be our path to a Cup. Now we just have to wait and see how JT ages as a player.

They both "buckled" by +/- $8m from what their positions reportedly were/should have been.

I figured that +/-$15m spread was a bridge too far. Clearly I was wrong. But make no mistake, this is definitely longer and more money than I'd have preferred AND far less than he'd get on the open market.

WE NEED TO WRITE A SONG OR SOMETHING. I'll give it some thought.

If I may :-)

Sung to the tune of "500 Miles" by the Proclaimers:

No more lurking, on the J.T. Miller thread

'Cos the lad is signed, now we can move ahead

Was it too much? Maybe so, but probably not

All I know is that this team's so cool it's hot

We're heading to the promised land

With JT, Hughes, Petey and Flow

And coach BB knows where it is

With his all-world goalie named Demko

Da Da Da Da (Da Da Da Da)

Da Da Da Da (Da Da Da Da)

Gonna gun, gonna gun, gonna gun - playoffs next year

Da Da Da Da (Da Da Da Da)

Da Da Da Da (Da Da Da Da)

Gonna gun, gonna gun, gonna watch and shout and cheer

Starting your post with 'Lol' is something I will never understand. It reeks of impulsivity and a lack of being able to see the forest for the trees.

We signed a good one. 8m is a nice number, cap expected to rise by around 9m by the time his deal expires.

How does it feel to be so contrarian?

We have a year to unload cap for next season when his first pay comes through.

Next year…

Ferland contract will be gone (but they using up LTIR anyways).  Buyout will be gone (that’s $2.4M). Cap supposed to go up another $1m or so.

So say about $3.5M of extra cap space.

Thinking they will try to trade a winger to get that elusive RHD or just free up cap space.
