Speaks a lot to that our group doesn't seem close as a group.

Horvat said that as well about the NYI locker room. Seems like that Canucks need to start winning in order to create that closeness again.

The big difference: most of Sabres roster are homegrown vs the Canucks.

Have to be close during the bad times too.  Easy to be close when things are easy.  Much harder when times are bad but that's when sticking together and trusting each other is most important vs playing the blame game.

Losing a few of our glue guys will also do that. The impact of losing Tanev, Markstrom, and Stecher all at once was clearly big. Motte and Edler were two other glue guys we let go/got rid of. Then you get a couple players that are tired and start wanting out in Boeser and even Horvart this year and it creates distance. Not to mention a quiet type like Petey and a loud type like Miller don't necessarily mesh without a good supporting cast.

Edit: it's a pretty big difference from our Presidents Trophy teams where Hank and Kesler were a quiet and loud type, but worked because they had a fantastic supporting cast in guys like Bieksa, Hamhuis, Malhotra and Luongo.

Jut to clarify.....Dickie + 2nd   for   Bloom (3rd)  + Dickie/Still cap savings for next season $4.0m

Nice inclusion of the very important freed up roster spot.

People seem to forget that we didn't just trade Dickie for pointless cap space. Bear was available for a 5th round pick - this was essentially a 3-way deal. We needed to trade Dickinson to make the Bear trade so it looks more like this:

To Carolina
5th round pick (VAN)

To Vancouver
Bear ($400K retained)
Stillman
Pederson

To Chicago
2nd round pick (VAN)

I think Bear would have been worth a 2nd at this deadline if we were looking to trade him.

Hey Riley, I'm pretty sure your on ice play affects how your teammates see and treat you as well.
