Why would Tkachuk have stayed here? We would have an aging Huberdeau minus Peter and Hughes. Thank you Olli Juolevi!!!!

Yup, we would have been watching him play somewhere else.  There were many reports, at the time, that indicated the pre draft interview with MT didn't go well ........my guess is he expressed a desire to be in the US and the Canucks passed.

Tchuk and Petie, that would be a sight

Bob. Bob. Bob. Finally earning his paycheck.

Gudas. Probably untouchable now.

Tocchet style coaching. We need a couple more of grit with speed. A forward and a defenseman.

Myers will be playing for a new contract this year. He'll be fine if we can't get a good deal for him. It would be a stone cold miracle if OEL pulls a Bobrovsky.

19 year old Bennett :frantic: is doing pretty good.

Lots of injuries. Proves team depth is very necessary. Playoffs are the ultimate, physically demanding, team game. Hopefully we can get a round or two next year. Go Canucks go!!!

if they maintain the status quo, then yes, it is, and it won't go very far, imo.  If they make a couple of good moves, get a little younger and deeper, then they have a shot at being a legit playoff team and contender in a couple of years.

The problems we had last season was that we didn’t have a back up goalie.
The D had a serious lack of top 4 players.

Now we have Silovs and Demko riding together, goalieproblem solved.

I really hope they don’t try to play Demko 65 games and Martin takes the rest.

That is old scoolthinking and not the way to go forward
screwed us regarding Marky and Demko and probably earlier also.

Now we have, hopefully, a healthy OEL, a hungry Myers with positive experiances from WC and Hronek.

Plus all the Abbyplayers with experiance from NHL that means we have backup that isn’t so bad.

If we find a true 3C or two gritty defenders

We are contenders right away.

Rod Brind'amour's  post game was too funny. He was adamant his team didn't get swept.

Oh,

Hopefully Carolina will think he is losing his mind and let him out of his contract...

Or, maybe we can trade Tocshit for him and get some top level coaching!

One can dream.

Florida finished the season with 92 points, one less than the Calgary Flames who had 93

Fla only got into the dance because the Blah Hawks went into Pittsburgh and beat the Penguins in the final week of the season.

It is amazing how different the narrative about FLA and the Flames is. The difference between success and failure in the NHL is razor thin.

My problem with that conclusion is that the NHL plays an unbalanced schedule. Most pundits had the eastern conference as much stronger than the west. That said Florida struggled for much of the year. Hmm, so did Calgary.

We can keep laughing at Juolevi all we want but I still think that was a failure on the training staffs part too.

Surely they would have known that this was not a player that had good enough fitness to go through the rigours of training camp. He should have been kept off the ice until he got himself into proper shape. Setting up a young kid to fail IMO even if it is on him.

Not the first, nor last time, injuries has decimated a career.

Lol @ Laine and Matthews reaction to mentioning Corey Perry.

Theres a reason why he has a cup and he’s been to the final 4 times. You win with players that are rats whether people like it or not.

If Matthews and Laine played like Perry maybe they’d actually get it done in the playoffs.

Perry also won the Hart trophy like Matthews.  The difference is he also won a cup, something Matthews may never win.  As for Laine, the guy doesn't even know where the other end of the ice is.  These 2 are prime examples of prima donnas who only care about their paycheck.  The guy they are laughing at is actually an NHL player who can lead his team to a cup.  I'd take Tkachuk over Matthews and Laine any day.  Tkachuk is the best player from that 2016 draft and it's not even close really.  We passed on the best player in that draft...
