@Coconuts, It’s sad to say but it’s even hard for this HATER OF ALL OTHERS to not still love Bo
Tell anyone and Alf will just deny it.
Hate you Bo!

Should we sign Erik Portillo? Best goaltending prospect in the NHL, Swedish (management loves em), and is unlikely to sign with Buffalo. Only 22 years old. He’s also 6’6!

@naslund.is.king How many times are you going to cry about AV? This is pathetic.
-
@Dazzle bad day? It's just the interweb. Go read a book relax
-
@naslund.is.king You need to pick a better role model.

Hope Aquilini does something useful for once and bribes Bedard with $10M to pull a Lindros

Jason Robertson giving Linsanity vibes

Would anyone be down for a JT Miller - Dubois swap? Similar to the Huberdeau - Tkachuk swap.

That Devils team reminds me of the late 00’s, early 10’s Chicago teams. Hischier and Hughes basically the new Toews and Kane

Buffalo is going to be a powerhouse team in the future. Incredible talent

Drafting top ten, two 1st overall franchise defining defencemen, while also trading a ppg 2nd overall forward and packing in those 1st and 2nd round picks for a solid decade will do that for a team. They're looking all world right now
Draft history: https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr00005054.html
Trade history: https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/sabres
In the last 10 years, 16 first round picks; 10 in the top 10, two 1st overall and two 2nd overall. 16 picks in the 2nd round. Damn.....

Life is so much more peaceful without the Star wars sequel tbh

Huge riot happening at the PNE. Vancouver sure knows how to riot Lol

Calgary Canucks are close to signing Virtanen Lol
-
I disagree with closing the Virtanen’s trial thread, there’s been some screwed up stuff said in that trial, that should be talked about.

Calgary Puck forums is having a mental breakdown

I wonder if Brandon Sutter might possibly return next season?
-
I think his career is over. His post covid symptoms seem serious. The interview he did on Sportsnet at the end of the season showed how bad of a state he was in, could barely get through the interview. His breathing still seems to be an issue in everyday life. Hopefully he's improved. I think the move for Sutter would be to take on a developmental role... possibly with the Canucks (Van or Abby).

Anybody else would do a JT Miller - Aaron Ekblad swap? Florida have lots of good d-man, Florida need a Miller type in their top 6. Feel like it would address both team needs.

Ekblad is a nasty piece of work. He is famous for hacking and slashing ankles all game long.
Kind of like a Chelios, he takes so many cheap shots the refs can’t call everything so he gets away with it. He doesn’t quite have the propensity for nasty cheap shots after the whistle like a Chelios did.
One year of JT for Ekblad is a no brainer in my mind. Ekblad is something we don’t have, need badly and would shift the identity of this team in a much meaner direction.

@Dazzle I just want to clarify that I'm not trying to win an argument here - I just want to present the views of people like my wife who is against abortion. Here's another way she just put it to me: "when I hear of an abortion happening, I feel sad because I believe somebody died."
-
@Vinny in Vancouver Men don't generally have to feel ashamed that they are masturbating, with some exceptions. However, a woman's body and its functions have been much more scrutinized. This can include having a woman be 'tested' to see if she is a virgin, or the fact that a woman's dress can apparently influence a man's decision to rape her. My answer to your scenario is that women have never been treated well compared to men, at least by 'western' standards, for the most part. Therefore, it's a fallacious comparison to use shame to measure the impacts of men and women for sexual health.
Miscarriages are terrible. Those are unwanted. Abortions may or may not be wanted. Certainly we have heard about forced abortions. We have also heard about chosen abortions (for whatever reason). Surely you are not trying to simplify the topic of abortions as to how the woman 'should' feel.
To be fair, your wife is just one perspective of a woman, and she may very well be exposed to more perspectives than you and I. That being said, your wife's opinion of abortion has certainly shaped the way you think about the topic, to the point that it's affecting your ability to properly weigh the discussions.

@DazzleOh absolutely, we are all influenced by our background and our own experiences, and as I mentioned above, I'm definitely only sharing the pro-life view because as I said, I believe there are stereotypes out there that do a disservice to my pro-life women friends. I am by no means vilifying those who are pro-choice. I'm actually in agreement (or at least sympathetic) with a lot of things you mention - most countries will allow for abortion in the case of: rape, incest, fetal health, risk to mother's life. Imo, that one is an easy ethical decision. Personally, I wish that the current debate is centered more on the holistic view of the health both mother and child that goes beyond the pregnancy and birth. That will give the discussion a greater chance of moving forward because there will be a greater focus on coming up with pragmatic action items. I find that my pro-life women friends are concerned about a lot of the things that my pro-choice friends are concerned about: reasons why a woman would consider terminating a pregnancy (the ones I mentioned above are easy, but others [e.g., career] are harder); having a safe abortion; reality that the woman will bear most of the burden of having a child not just during pregnancy but afterwards; can the mother take are of the baby; lifelong impact (both positive and negative ["challenging" is probably the word they will use] of having a baby on the mother's life; how easy it is for men to just relinquish themselves of responsibility; how there's no impact on the man's body but there's huge impact on the woman's body; abortion pressures from cultures that prioritize males over females; lack of adoption services; lack of enough services to be able to raise a child (e.g., education, daycare, etc.); contraception; sex education; sexualization of women; maternity leave; fertility services; career advancement for somebody who has the burden (some of my friends will scold me for using that term) of also raising kids; post-partum depression; pressure to have children; at which term will the baby (fetus) feel pain; etc. Unfortunately (imho), the discussion is almost always being framed from the context of rights, and I find that to be often contentious because the first statement that comes out of everybody's mouth is "well, it's my right to...". A right is binary: either you have the right or you don't. Rights can sometimes infringe - freedom of expression is a good example of that.

Also it’s 4am and the first thing I See on Twitter is McDavid walking $&!#faced out of the club cheating on his girlfriend and Sammy Blais supports incest????

@JM_ But I mean don't think I'm judging you or that I think I'm morally/ethically superior to you or anything like that, I just think that after all the jokes have been made we should also point out how f-cked up the reaction was on twitter (and the whole situation all together)

What is a country club player? I don’t get that saying.

i've never been in their dressing room so i can't picture this country club atmosphere. do they drink too much champagne in the dressing room? if it is a mantality, they must have spent a lot of time in the dressing room. if it's their on ice play, then are they not playing up to their ability or are they not capable of performing like stanley cup champs?

Makar is just ridiculous. Might be the best defenseman to ever play the game by the time he’s 25.

@JM_ not sure if Josi is better defensively. Makar played more minutes against elite forwards, by a far margin than Josi, despite playing 3 less games.
Makar - 500+ mintues
Josi - 450 minutes
Makar also has a slightly better xGA and less giveaways than Josi.
