  1. Tomorrow will be the best day of Raymond K. Hessel's life. His breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted.

  2. Beautiful weather! Go enjoy it people!

@Gaudette Celly I disagree.  Refusing to vote is not the answer.  It gives the power to fewer people.  The key to winning any election is getting your supporters to get out and vote.  Roughly, only 66% of eligible voters cast a ballot in this election.  That means about 9M eligible Canadians did not vote.  If more of those people got out and voted, we may have had a different outcome.

I voted conservative and they won in my riding. I never thought the liberals were gunna lose. Justin won me back with the cocky victory speech and cutting off scheers speech was a legendary move

When you have a choice between the Hell's Angels and Taliban, how does "more turnout" help?  Your presumption is that more people voting for the same corrupt tyrants can somehow make things better?  It doesn't matter who wins, it's a dog and pony show, a staged circus no more real than WWE.

"More turnout" simply legitimizes the corruption, and says "Yes, I approve of this".  That's why in places like Australia where people were fed up and not voting they had to FORCE people to vote, otherwise the charade would be up because the government had the support of so few people they were illegitimate and powerless.

If you believe the SYSTEM is fantastic then fine, but if not there's no party that's going to do anything to change let alone fix it.

  4. Say what you want about Lucic...but no longer willing to enforce? Look what he did last night...I would take that 10/10 times over LE floating on the 3rd line.

@MikeBossy lol. Funny comparison using Reaves and scoreboard. You contradict yourself hard. Reaves career high in points was this past season at 20. Ironically Lucic lowest point total was this past season, at 20. Reaves doesn't contribute on the scoreboard but is able to play a regular shift and understand his role while being a top heavyweight. The only difference with Lucic is his salary. He is getting paid on past performance. If Lucic was making 2 million a year right now no one would bat an eye. Maroon on the other hand isn't an enforcer at all and routinely gets his ass handed to him so again your comparison is completely off.

Lucic has picked a fight first game for his last 4 clubs....

Problem is that he then disappears for the next 80 games.

He can't skate anymore and is just a terrible hockey player.  By the way... last night was not a fight... it was more of an assault.  Gutless.

  8. How is C.Stewart still a UFA? Would've been a much better and cheaper option than Roussel. Much bigger, much tougher and overall more skilled. Major moneyball potential.

    1. JM_

      JM_

      more skilled? doing what?

He's probably seen as too slow. Might be worth a PTO.

      RRypien37

Take a look at the numbers he was putting up at the start of his career. He has top 6 skill level. AR tops out as a 3rd liner at best.

I was there at the 2006 draft (it was actually at GM Place (yeah, to "old name" for the arena) when Stewart was drafted.  I didn't have a clue who the heck Grabner was (I didn't follow the draft prospects all that closely back then).

All the Olympic players should be treating this like a tryout for the NHL. I'd be disappointed if they weren't playing hard.

      pluralsight

You're comparing a 1.5 week tournament to an 82 game grind? Makes sense. I doubt you'd be saying the same thing once NHL Playoff hockey rolls around.

    4. Alflives

      Alflives

      @RRypien37

Totally agree about the NHL going soft.  I think the league will lose a lot of the fans they have (would normally attract) in the traditional US hockey markets because of it too.  We Canadian dopes will fork over our hard earned coin no matter, but I don’t think the Yanks will.

  12. Why has Dahlen not moved up to the SHL like EP?

    1. BananaMash

      BananaMash

Playing in the Allsvenskan allowed him to sign a very short term contract, the SHL would not -- Methinks Vancouver wants him back in North America sooner rather than later. Like, sometime this season soon.

guarenteed top 6 pick...they have the same odds of winning lottery as 3rd worst team

      this is all on wikipedia

    2. stonecoldstevebernier

      stonecoldstevebernier

Same odds as the 3rd worst team. But no matter the lottery outcome, they will pick third in every round after the first.

  18. Since he can't have 16, why doesn't BB just wear 61? Much better than 6...

Evan McEneny has already worn 61 this season. I don't believe teams recycle numbers within the same season. I could be wrong, but that might have something to do with it.

It was like watching a cat toying around with a mouse.  I saw someone who looked generally afraid of inflicting serious damage.  The aggression will come, so will the technique.

    3. Warhippy

      Warhippy

I referred to it.  Looked like a very large man holding off a smaller man and shrugging off a few jabs.  Looked like if the big man wanted to destroy him it would have been over pretty quickly, that reach advantage on Tree is disgusting.  Certainly no interest in Tree in fighting, certainly doesn't look totally comfortable dropping the gloves but that god given size is crazy.

Also, he torqued up Benn somehow and Benn left the game  Crazy stuff

Emotion is what hockey is about big hits, rivalries, organic scraps.

Too much of regards season games are boring and played without

emotion. Only in the playoffs every game players are hitting each other.

  24. LOL Kassian got ragged by Haley...always was a very overrated fighter. Ben Eager was his only real highlight and it was one lucky flush shot.

  25. Very random....BUT Johan Franzen was drafted when he was 24 turning 25...how is that possible? I thought after older than 20, you cannot be drafted?

    1. Show previous comments  4 more
    2. Odd.

      Odd.

Or, there could also have been other teams looking to sign him and so by drafting him, you gain the full rights of that player making it that much harder for other teams to acquire him.
