Burrows? Do We Really Need Him?

The guy is a canuck legend! How many times has he scored in the shootout? Gwg? Overtime? Penalty shot? Breakaway? More often than not, he finishes the job with puck in the back of the net. I hope he plays this way till he's 40. I never get tired of watching it. :)

Seriously, what does this guy NOT do for this franchise on and off the ice? Lot of other vets I would move before Burrows.

Krog>burrows

I decided to go back to the beginning of the thread to check out a few of clutch's other posts and this one jumped out at me...

Awww. After the update now this post has +98 instead of the sub -1000 that it had before. That was the thing of legends. That needs to be rectified. THAT IS DESTRUCTION OF A HERITAGE ARTIFACT!!!

Yeah, it's all messed up. The second poster in the thread actually typed this:

"...." and has 279 upvotes for it.

Meanwhile, another poster (who shall remain nameless) came up with this gem, and got zilch.

You know, this thread reminds me of the time my wife saw this clutch that she really wanted. I clutched my wallet and headed down to the department store. Unfortunately the clutch in my car gave out halfway there. So, I phoned my wife and told her that I couldn't get the clutch for her.

She replied that if I wanted her to clutch me ever again, that I would get her that clutch.

So, in the clutches of a dilemma, I decided to walk to the store to buy the clutch. A few miles (and a few hours) later, I emerged from the store triumphantly clutching the clutch.

It just goes to show that with Alex Burrows type determination, anyone can come through in the clutch.

It's like a forced marriage now. Only the contract has value. If only he could be traded! Guy is probably toxic to other GMs and we will have to eat his salary until the end. He should be a 3rd liner this year and not see any PP until he starts looking like he did 5 years ago. I hope he can demonstrate his value but he is more of a liability at present--not his fault, his agent did a great job and Mgmt. bit. And the league is still showing it's lack of professionalism by still carrying vendettas. Can't wait to be rid of this ball and chain.

I nominate you for Mayor of Wrongville

Believe it or not teams need players such as Burrow,Hansen, Prust, Dorsett yes and even Higgins. Look for the last minute of a tight game and see who the coach has out there ....yep the players he trusts to make the right choice and bring it home

Give your......

A liability?  Do you even watch from way over there on the other side of the Earth?  He HAS demonstrated his value, time and time again.

This has troll post smeared all over it.  It's one thing to pitch an idea that goes against the grain, but this is just pure nonsense.  Honestly.

Burr has been electric in the last too games and looks like he is really coming into form. Last night especially I was very impressed.

Don't get me wrong, he has been good for most of the season but that is because he never gives up and is a relentless checker and a pain in the ass for the opposition. Lately he has begun to look more threatening in front of goal.

The old Burr is reappearing and that can only be good for the Canucks.

Granted he played well against Arizona but he can thank Smith for that gifted goal and he is still under-achieving given his salary. Don't like him on the PP but he can grind on the 3rd line all he wants because he is good at that and not tough enough for the 4th. I'd love to be wrong about this because he was once much more fearless, much younger, and consequently much better.

He took a pay cut to stay in Vancouver when he was a 30 goal scorer and makes around 1.2 million per year back then. He deserves his current contract given what he has done over the year as a Canuck. He has a heart of a Canuck and he is still one of the hardest working player on our roster night in and night out.

News Flash your Honour:  Everyone was once younger. When they re-signed him, they paid him market value. He was a top producing first line two-way forward that many teams would have matched. Its not unusual for an older player to not be as productive at the tail end of a contract, as he was when he signed. That is always understood by a GM. I don't understand how he has become less "fearless" though. He still goes to the high traffic areas. I haven't seen him pull back or float around looking for someone else to do the dirty work for him. Have you?

He's probably still the most versatile forward we have. He can be plugged onto any line. He's a PK specialist, a threat short-handed, and if Vrbata ever struggles again, he can be injected into the top line on a dime. Its not just about youthfulness, its also about experience, which he has oodles of, especially playoff experience. Of all the players to whine and moan about being slightly overpaid, I find it laughable that some here pick on Burrows of all players.
