TheRussianRocket.
@imacVanSunAlex Burrows, back in VAN to skate, said Canucks never asked him to waive NTC. Confirms what GM Jim Benning said. I believe this. JB isn't dumb enough to trade Burr after his worst season which would bring back a minuscule return ...I wonder if it's Hansen/Higgy that refused to waive then? If I could picked one, I'd say it was Hansen that was asked. Benning knows the importance of top 6 scorers and Higgy being so versatile, I highly doubt he'd ask him to go leaving it to Hansen - I'm speculating. Would make sense too since we have a ton of bottom 6 guys and as good as Hansen is, could be clogging up a spot for a potential Jensen/Horvat/Gaunce. Anyways, glad that JB never asked Burrows to waive
Maniwaki Canuck
Not entirely surprised by this- it sounded a little too Tortorella for the new regime. Glad to hear it though.
ice orca
Wonder what the Burr haters are going to say about this.
2SKATES1STICK
haters gonna hate glad burr is back. 4.5m in the new CBA is fair money for a 20-25 goal 45-50 point gritty winger.
Down by the River
Even if you hate Bur, thinking that now would be a good time to trade him is silly. Guy has battled his entire career, he's not ever going to be lower value than he was last year.

johngould21
Anyone who hates Burr is a goof. The guy is heart and soul and bleeds blue and green. After Tortorella got through with him and a few others, I'm amazed he's got anything left to bleed.
bigbadcanucks
Anyone who hates Burr is a goof. The guy is heart and soul and bleeds blue and green. I don't hate Burr...but I think his best days are behind him. I appreciate what he's done in the past, but that's all in the past. He's been on a three year slide falling off the cliff last season. I expect that he will be better this season than he was last season, but he isn't the same guy that slayed the dragon vs. the 'hawks, much like Kesler was no longer the beast that he was vs. the Preds. My expectations out of Burr for this coming season is somewhere between where he was in 2012-2013 and how he played last season. I say let the guy build up his value up to the trade deadline and if it so happens that the Canucks are sellers at that time, try to trade him to a contender for prospects and/or picks. Sorry, but sentiment is for Hallmark cards...not the NHL (at least it is for me...if others feel differently, good on them for having the sentimental gene...mine got mutated out at birth). oldnews
Were there rumours about him being asked to waive by Benning? This is what people get for listening to Botchford. http://forum.canucks.com/topic/361880-report-burrows-said-no-to-waiving-ntc/page-25?hl=%20burrows%20%20refuses%20%20to%20%20waive 25 pages of b.s. based on a (typical) liberty taken by a wannabe with no credibility who frequently speaks for people without qualifying his rumours with quotes or references. Ironically, he's not a valid/reputable source.
Slegr
Anyone who hates Burr is a goof. The guy is heart and soul and bleeds blue and green. Agreed. Burrows is a hallmark hero on this team, and his versatility, desire to win and skill all equal a bounce-back year with the passion that he is known to bring. Canucks1219
players and staff lie all the time. Not saying they are lying, but this doesn't prove anything for me. The media is the same way. Or at the very least can be fed false information. Personally, I'm going to take Burrows' word since it has at least come from a source.
Master Mind
Good. I'm sure Burrows will play better knowing he's wanted as opposed to being asked to leave.
Jiggs50
Sick. He's going to rebound in a big way. There's not many agitators like Burr who can pot 20+ and kill penalties and play all over your lineup.

grandmaster
Realistically speaking, he wasn't asked to waive most likely because there wasn't a suitable trading partner. He was really that bad last year. Hope he rebounds
