Boeser, 20, was the one bright spot in an otherwise abysmal end to last season when he collected four goals in his first nine NHL games after turning pro from the University of North Dakota. Did they immediately turn that into a "what does this mean for re-signing the kids in Toronto?"
Rob_Zepp
He was "ok" in the game today until he took the puck from his own end and just made it happen. Hard to understand how some players just have that ability to make that one play each game but nice when that sort of player is on a team that you cheer for. I agree he wasn't amazing but that end of the game shot was jaw dropping. It will take another preseason game or two for me to fully see if he ready or not. Seriously though, that shot was jaw dropping.

Rob_Zepp
Like I said in another thread, He is mentally prepared / you don't "take the shot" in OT unless you think you belong. His skating is a tad choppy and he looks a bit smaller than his size sometimes but an uncle of mine said that he reminds him of a former LA King Robataille who everyone doubted his ability coz he could not skate like the wind so instead he just went out and scored goals all the way to HOF. That is clearly a reach but I have been around game a bit and something about this player's knack to score seems hard wired and tough to ignore. I guess I am saying I would rather have a choppy skater I don't notice much until I look at the scoresheet each night than a flashy elite fast skating guy who gets 8 goals a year and always "shows promise".

They used to say the same thing about Bret Hull. Calgary shipped him out to St. Louis as they thought the only thing he could do well is shoot and he wouldn't have much of a career with only one skill. I think they may have been wrong..... I heard a great (urban legend...fake news?) about Brett Hull not trying hard in training camp workout and was challenged by an assistant coach who wanted him to put more effort into jumping jacks. Coach said to him "can't you raise your arms above your head?!" to which apparently Hull said "I did it over 70 times last year....."
48MPHSlapShot
So at what point can we say Boes is "kicking the door down"?

One good game you can kind of pass off. Two games and you are starting to think he might have something going for him. If he manages a third game in a row, I'd say "He's kicking the door down". Even if he has an off game next outing I'd say he's having a strong showing. The kid showed a lot of class after the Vegas game and said it doesn't matter how things went offensively for him if it didn't help the team win. He says all of the things a coach wants to hear from his players. He could have said "I think so far I've made a strong statement to the effect that I should make the starting NHL roster this season" but he didn't, he talked about team goals. The kid is a class act. A few more years and I think we'll see an A on his jersey. Edited September 18, 2017 by RogersTowell

Rex425
Brock should definately make the team. He might lead preseason in goals and points when its all set and done. He'll get a lot of minutes these next two games so he'll get opportunities.

Camel Toe Drag
Brock's netting 30 this year. The dude can literally score from anywhere. Oh ya, give him the Calder too.

Bandwagon38
I can just picture Petterssen backing off the defensmen with his silky hands and then flipping the puck back to a trailing Brock in the slot who rips it top shelf!!!!
