SUNRISE, Fla – The Florida Panthers announced today that they have invited Forward David Booth to training camp on a professional try out.

Booth, 30, has appeared in 502 National Hockey League games recording 120 goals and 111 assists (120-111-231) with the Florida Panthers (2006-11), Vancouver Canucks (2011-14), and Toronto Maple Leafs (2014-15).

Training Camp will open on Sept. 17 at BB&T Center with a full roster and schedule to follow.

His career died basically as soon as he came here. I hope he can revive it again in Florida where he thrived.

It died after Mike Richards ran him over and he got concussed. The season before he was putting up legitimate top-line numbers (0.83 p.p.g.) and he was richly rewarded with that now-albatross contract before missing 45 games after the hit, and even after that he still had some 1/2 p.p.g. seasons before really tapering off with us and the Leaves. Gotta think that he'd still be useful as a role player, and as long as he keeps his head up he can have several more serviceable seasons.

He could still make a decent bottom six grinder.

He may have that tunnel vision thing that he'll probably never shake, and is really hit and miss with his finishing, but he's always been a solid two way winger who skates and backchecks hard (had decent underlying numbers again last year - even in Toronto). At a depth cap hit, he may be worth the look.
