AKA JovoCough ! hated watching him man the point and give up breakaways when the puck hopped over his stick. I always felt Sopel was in his shadow but did a much better job. He did stick up for his team mates , but he wasn't great in an offensive roll at all. It happened for sure. But he also had the ability to put the team on his back and take over a game which in all the years of watching Vancouver I've never seen from a defenseman, ever. He would stick up to his teammates instantly and with violence whether or not they wanted to fight or not...Which gave him and teammates some respect. Remember when Linden was hit Sopel was a defensive liability most of the time he was here that would often get points but you were left wondering why. He wins Best hockey hair though or face only a mother could love award. How about Tryamkin as most overrated. We can pick on him now that he's betrayed us and gone home. Chara references all over these boards...guilty of some of that myself.

diesel_3
Small sample size, but for me it was Steve McCarthy. I remember all the talk of him being a former 1st rounder, he was local (Trail) so of course everyone thought he would turn it around in Vancouver. He skated like he was going through sand with dull skates and was softer than 3 ply.

(Craig Button as far as to say that Philip Larsen is 'not an NHL player' upon hearing the Canucks had signed him).
The Lock
Overrated "Dman"? Any of the "Dmons" from Charmed. They had trouble surviving. (not that I really watched Charmed. I just thought of a pun and was like "look at me ma! I can type a pun!")

One of the best offensive d man is overrated. unreal. case in point. When you're talking about over-rated players, you're talking about highly rated players.....that weren't all they were cracked up to be. Ehrhoff is an excellent example. Propped up by team-mates - flopped on an average team = and bought out. Did a few offensive things well, but overall, a pretty one-dimensional player.
