That term is way too long.

He is only 31 years old and has good mobility. There is good reason to believe that he can keep up his play till age 36.

This isn't a seabrook at 8 years for twice as much deal.

Longer term, lower AAV or vice versa. Can't have both. He has amazing mobility and speed, he will have no trouble keeping up even at 36.

They really shouldn't be "releasing numbers" lol. They are not allowed to talk term or salary until July 1.

It's Pittsburgh... it'll be fine.  Canucks better not try that tho... they'd have to give up a 2nd round pick as a penalty.

Johnson has become a good shutdown defenseman - mobile, reasonably physical with solid underlying numbers for some time in Columbus.

Those are reasonable enough terms for a guy that can handle 20 or more relatively hard minutes / night.

This might be a somewhat fair queston to ask. Would you prefer Gudbranson or Johnson? Assuming that both were available at the same time.

This apparently is the way the NHL worded the rules of engagement for this week.........

“Clubs are permitted to discuss their potential interest in, as well as the general parameters of, a potential future contractual relationship with another Club’s pending RFA or UFA during the applicable ‘interview periods,’ but Clubs may not enter into any agreements, or make any binding offers, promises, undertakings, representations, commitments, inducements, assurances of intent, or understandings of any kind, express or implied, oral or written, concerning the terms of a potential SPC with another Club’s pending RFA or UFA.”
