A three-time Stanley Cup champion and 1958 inductee to the Hockey Hall of Fame, Clancy was voted as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players during the League's Centennial Celebration in 2017.

Weird choice. I love Edler and even think he's a great leader, but I don't think he compares to Bo. I guess maybe the Canucks brass don't want to make it too obvious that Horvat's the next captain.

I hope not to justify over paying edler if he wants too much but we can't afford to keep an injury prone player too longer as we don't have depth to cover it (yet) cmon JB nothing longer than 2 years unless on discount but after over paying the declining sedins i'm skeptical. However that could have been just to keep the stadium semi sort of attended knowing a rebuild would have to happen.

Anyway, as long as i don't read nmc or ntc in his signing i won't be pissed at all. No matter what, not just building a good D, we need depth too.

Maybe this should be a post-career and/or retirement award which keeps ex-players connected to community and the league. Unless, like Alex, you are injured a lot the focus needs to be on helping the team win. Let the girl friend do the bulk of the charity work while playing through the grind of a season. Great to recognize community contributions but these guys already have their plate full IMO. Perhaps you get recognition at the end of your career or in retirement if you choose to take on that role. Just my 2 cents worth.

Benning didn’t sign the Sedins.

I agree that a 2 year deal would be optimal assuming Edler goes for that. We have the space to overpay him and set him up to retire if he so chose at the end of it, rather than giving him term. Edler is debatably the best LHD going to FA and wants to be here. Chances are the Canucks will still need to overpay to get players here as well as needing to overpay anyways for tax purposes. Resigning him, and assuming Juolevi is ready to make the jump after what I figure will be an AHL start next season, hopefully that’ll mean we can move Hutton for something.

Depth takes time to build for sure but it’ll sure be nice to finally have extra assets to be able to trade to fill needs.

Meh, I would’ve nominated Goldy.

Apparently his spends his offseasons focused on charitable works like serving afternoon tea to hockey players on a boat in Saint Petersburg.

If this isn’t a player making “a noteworthy humanitarian contribution to his community,” I dunno what is. ;)

or Jake - he does an admiral service following several hundred beautiful women on Instagram. Every "like" he gives them makes their world a better place...
