(Discussion) How could we entice Seattle to take Eriksson?

Recommended Posts

What would you be willing to give up to entice Seattle to take Louie instead of the other options they would have?

Would a 2nd and 3rd get it done? Should we give up that much? More?

Really dont want to lose Jake or a goalie (especially Demko)

A whole lot of drugs & booze.

No way a 2nd & a 3rd gets it done.

Imagine if the positions were reversed and we were the team with alot of cap space.  Would you take on a garbage contract for a 2nd & a 3rd?

Won't be too bad for them.  1 year left on his contract by the time the draft rolls around.  He'll have a M-NTC (idk what the M means) by that time too.  My guess is they'd want a lot since as it stands Demko/Markstrom will be up for grabs.

If that is the case let us hope he busts out like Schneider in the long run.

If Jake plays his way back into the lineup and Ferland also proves to be a force, I wonder if we could trade MacEwen and else (maybe a 2nd?) with Loui?  Zack's at worst a 3rd line wing with potential (and if they're built anything like the Knights they'd want young grinder PF's to help with scorers up top).

Vegas got players that had good numbers but were playing lower in the lineup given who were ahead of them - Karlsson, Haula obvious examples. Haula C4 in Minnesota and Karlsson C3/C4 in Columbus became C1/C2 for Vegas.  MacEwen does not have that kind of upside.

Seattle is also analytics driven - even used analytics to help in their GM selection.  MacEwen doesn't fare particularly well.

A 2nd or 3rd is not enough.

Vancouver will end up leaving a decent to good player unprotected. Seattle can just take their pick of the players available .  If you want them to waste a pick on a boat anchor you’ll need to offer a lot more incentive. They’re not only taking a bad contract /marginal player,  but they’re losing out on the decent player they would have otherwise taken. Think a 1st or one of Vancouvers top prospects (Podkolzin)

We really want Eriksson gone before NEXT summer, need a solution to him before the start of the next season.

For the expansion draft, I think Benning will make a deal with Seattle for a draft pick, in exchange for taking the player we want them to take.

Difference with Schneider is that he had something like triple the NHL starts Demko had by the time we dealt him.  We had a far better idea of what we had.

The answer to your question starts with Gaudette

Hmm interesting idea.  If we're going to build for the playoffs then Sutter's probably more suitable for #3 C as he's proving.  Hobey Baker winner aside, if the fit just isn't there as a 2-way match-up C in Gaudette then it's a solid packaging option for moving our beloved Swede.  Then if Lind's as good of a playmaker as he was touted to be since his draft days maybe we could run a 3rd line of Roussel - Sutter - Lind.

Loui was one of the best players on the ice last night.  He's playing for a new contract.  At $6 million he's a bargain really.  Seattle would have to give us their first round pick if they want Loui...  ^_^

Yeah, he's our Selk-ehhhh quality shutdown man.

Now, bidding starts at $1...

Louis contract isn't that bad.
