With the injuries, the flat cap and Covid he might "be" cheap having certainty of a spot on a young up and coming team where he fits well with the guys (clearly).

 

Lots of guys chase paycheques, but Toffoli seemed to be more pissed off at losing in LA than he was happy to 'get paid'. Some guys are permanently hungry, and it's pretty obvious that no matter how we actually do "this year", this is a team on the ascent. He might very well take a small discount or a cheap "one year" deal to keep the chain moving and re-evaluate at the end of next year... and we'll have a lot more cap at that point as Baertshi, Spooner, Benn and Sutter will be off the books - if Sutter "comes back" he'd have to be at a lot less.
