No single industry is immune from criticism.  No single industry can claim they're safe to a person.  it is and always has been down to the individual not the industry to ensure that everything goes well.

But.

And this is again my statement.  Without the verifiable proof of numbers showing gyms are somehow or have somehow created more of a case load than pubs, restaurants etc I can't get behind it.  I know very well the meathead mentality.  But we continue to see cases spike and flow and none of it is currently gym related.  once they re-open we will see within 2 weeks but my money is currently on the numbers being consistent and not spiking which will show pretty definitively what's up.

I just can't get behind the hypocritical stances we keep seeing, statements in err etc because they're confusing, frustrating and damaging trust in the [populace

we have managed omicron better than some other provinces, would you say it's possible that's because we've closed places that have been areas of high transmission before?  They've made keeping schools open and hospital;s functioning and that means sacrifices in other areas.  Sadly gyms/fitness centres are where that's fallen.........I'd rather they be proactive and manage this variant than the "let er rip and clean up after" approach.  I have no doubts that most gyms are in full compliance, but I also have no doubt that there are more than a handful that have not upgraded ventilation, do not enforce mask mandates and don't check vaccination status.........that's who you sould be angry with

A lot easier to walk back being too cautious than too optimistic.

@bishopshodanDid I hear correctly that gyms are opening? That must make you happy.

It makes me a little sad I can't hide my laziness anymore. ::D

Well, it does...but my gym packed it in anyway. They have closed permanently. Older owners that couldn't hold on any more.

So, looks like I have to join a big outfit further away....maybe Planet Fitness.

I am happy to get back at it but obviously feel for my old gym. Was such a great place with a fantastic clientele.

I don't think people wear masks in gyms when exercising. I certainly don't, and wouldn't be a member of one that required me to. As you said, I already had to be double vaxxed to get in the door.

I actually have come to like wearing my mask while working out. It hides the silly faces I make when I lift. I look way cooler hiding my mush, like a Batman villain.

Even wear it on Cardio days when I run for a hour. I'm thinking of buying one of those elevation/altitude training masks, like resistance training for oxygen. There's some debate about if they help much but I think they look dope.

I cant wait till 4am Thursday morning.  Finally my early mornings will be worth it again!  Never once felt unsafe at my gym, always seemed clean and people followed rules.

Was it the gyms, or the 20-40 crowd who use gyms most getting Covid at a very high rate, that were problematic?

My wife who just started being a care aid at the beginning of this pandemic would also disagree. She just found out one of her clients just tested positive along with her husband but she still has to go there everyday to take care of them. She nearly broke down crying tonight when she got home because she is so exhausted.

So sorry to hear that. It’s terrible. My wife comes home crying quite a bit these days because of the stress and situations at work she had to deal with. The mental health is a huge issue on everyone.
