I think the reason this win was so big, aside from it’s always fun to beat the Leafs, is that for one night it felt like a win against Covid. It was much more than just a hockey win.

That interview he gave... (yesterday?) where he talked about everyone writing them off was also the most fired up I’ve ever seen him in an interview.  He was trying to keep it to the low key hockey cliches but his passion was really showing.  Then to follow it up with a game like that.

 

Probably the most “captain-like” moment of his Canucks career so far. Impressive stuff.

Miller got a penalty and the commentators talked about how it was a slash, etc. and later Matthews did literally the exact same thing (no penalty ofc) and they said it was a fantastic stick lift. Not to mention some fantastic saves by Holtby got the ho hum treatment while a shot he didn't even see hitting the knob of Campbell's stick has them saying it was a piece of his equipment he used to male the save, like he &^@#ing planned it all out.

 

It was pretty bad tonight.

but otherwise I thought it was a pretty evenly called game

Ya cheech is a terrible homer. Simpson especially is just as bad though. He oversells anything Toronto and downplays anything Canucks. And he is willfully blind about Toronto.

 

TO played like they believed the hype that the decimated Canucks were an easy 2 points.
