[Rumor] Nate Schmidt being dealt very soon any minute now

Just like we said that with virtanen if there not gonns set guy loose we could easily end up with another top 10 lost for nothing

It's simple mathematics really. You can get a guy like Bogosian without giving up assets.

OJ might bust because of injuries or other reasons, but his ceiling is still the #2-3D elite passing shutdown D he was drafted to be and his floor if healthy a #5-6D with qualities not many 3rd pairing D:s have.

Sure there are question marks, but that's why he'll be paid under a million and not 5 mil (or 2.5 like Virtanen).

The chance of him being a great contributor on a reasonable cap hit for years to come is big enough to make him pretty much untradeable from an asset standpoint right now.

If he busts and we get nothing + spent a high draft pick, well sometimes that's the risks you gotta live with and the cost of doing business.

Virtanen should of course have been traded a long time ago but easy to say that now and at least the buyout is not a huge issue financially.

love that gif.  the answer to every Van presser.

While not a gif, still one of my fave Nux clips from throughout the years.

Good memories.

Was with a group of buddies watching this game on tv, all of us high and buzzed and this almost killed us.

Fit Schmidt in the cap this way:

Hughes- 4 years 6.8 per

Garland- 5 years 4.9 per

Dickinson- 3 years 2.8 per

Juolevi- 1 year 1 mil

Jujar khairia- 1 year 1 mil

Miller pettersson Boeser

Hoglander Horvat Granland

Pearson Dickinson podkolzin

Khairia McEwen Motte

OEL Schmidt

Hughes juolevi (gonna have to try him on the off side)

Rathbone Myers

That’s a lot for Hughes and Garland (you could knock a mill off Garland and still be pretty fair).
Overall I like the lineup.
Id try to find a way to get rid of Holtby and use that cap for a Dman.
OJ need a some more seasoning before he is ready for a full time role.
That lack of pivot ability scares me.
Hopefully an off-season of training has fixed that knee.

This is my worst case if we can't move both Schmidt and holtby.

23.7 mill so it doesnt fit and thats without another RHD that we need to add more like 2 incase of injuries.

Schmidt seems like one of those “bro-guy jocks” in high school that ran in packs of five, wore the same clothes, went out with the same girls but.....

Could barely spell their own name, never had a coherent thought other than “must bully smaller person”, and were just donkeys in a pack full of donkeys braying at whatever the group brayed at.

Just seems to me anyway. I could be wrong.

Have you seen some of his interviews? Often gives very coherant, self-aware, introspective answers that are several minutes long. One of the most (publicly) coherant guys in the NHL.

If it works it works. Maybe we can still use bowie as backup and only need 1 other Dman.

Bowie could be serviceable as a 7th D if need be. Good speed and hits too, 6’2 202lb right hand shot. His game just reached a peak and he never grew into further expectations. His actual d play needs fine tuning. As a 7th though he’s a decent asset and we already have him signed at 725K for one more year,  maybe worth a shot with Shaw and see if he can turn his game around?
