Schmidt's deployment was all wrong, his numbers plummeted here in van, and as soon as he left, he rebounded.

Plus, I have a feeling Dermott is gonna play on the left side and replace Hunt.

With the border closed Nate "Juiceman" Schmidt couldn't get his needed got to drinks.  So glad we got rid of that fake.

Then you know the drill. Everyone will gather in this thread to complain until the next trade is announced. Then all of us will leave this thread and flood into the new one to bitch about that trade.

Rinse, repeat. :)

Right, I'm getting rusty in my old age. See you in the next broohaha.

IMHO yes. Got younger and also free'd up $1.5 mill in salary. Get the feeling our Management team see Dermott as someone with more upside than what everyone else is seeing

Is he really that good with 5pts this season with the high scoring leafs and 50pts in 251 games lol!!! You can be the judge in why the leafs is trading him away!! If he's that good why would they trade him.

Willie Mitchell didn't get lots of points. But he did his job well, and cleared the net, and played a sound positional game.

Not every player is all about the points especially for defensemen. Now the question is, can Dermott just be a stay-at-home d-man?

I don't care how many points he puts up, but he's also a defensive liability coming from a team where that was acceptable.

If he’s a defensive liability, why did we swing a trade to get him? LOL

Leaf fans not happy. Really liked him

- very good defensively, outstanding gap control

- effective but not given a bigger role

- still potential to be a 2nd pairing dman could flourish with more minutes

Meh. That's like my wife having an opinion when I'm working on her car.

To be honest I don't think he will make our D any better...plus throwing away a high 3rd round pick is just stupid!! I could be wrong but let's see how he plays out here.

Defenseman (noun) - Meaning = man of defence.

Used in a sentence = "He can't score for sh** but he's a good defenseman."
