D.B Cooper
Great deal for a (hopefully) solid backup! He will for sure be with the big club next year. Let’s hope those 3 games weren’t just a flash in the pan! Edited April 8, 2022 by D.B Cooper

EternalCanuckFan
Good opportunity for Martin to prove himself. Provides some cost certainty next season. Basically means the Canucks are paying about $2M for a backup next year when factoring in Halak's bonus.

Hahahah Unfortunately for Martin, Benning is gone and the ridiculous overpayments should be too. 1

Fanuck
For a guy who's never played more than 3 NHL games in one season in his entire career, let's hope he's capable of playing substantially more than that. It'd be ideal if he could play between 15-20 games or so at a high level.
MattJVD
That's great! I liked what he showed in his few starts with the Canucks this year. Can't beat that price either.
kloubek
This is pretty much what I expected, and supported. We play Demko a lot on this team, and let's face it - he had a good game last night but Halak is hit and miss. I don't think this appreciably downgrades our goaltending, and the price is right. BCNate
Should be a solid deal. I could see MDP tagging off on some games over the next two years as well. Having the AHL team in Abby really lets us make sure our backups are getting games in.
SilentSam
Be great to see him in the line up next season and this almost guarantees Silovs gets the lead minutes in Abby.. I wonder if Koskenvuo gets to make the move to ECHL for top minutes there. … wondering if M Dipetro is will be traded in a package? Congrats Mr Martin !

Yeah, this indicates that the team is either hopeful that Martin's play in the AHL can carry over and that they are OK in case it doesn't. In other words, they are leaning towards a retool and taking a step back instead of immediate upgrading of the roster.

He has been very reliable for Abbotsford, contributing greatly to their Calder Cup Playoff berth earlier this month, and has shown an ability to perform in high-pressure situations." 7 1 2 1
Popular Post JM_
Zero risk signing. Good for Martin to make it back this far, also a nice win for our goalie coaches. 6 4
