The Rangers could have used JT Miller in this series…

Feels like NYR lost in large part because they couldn't counter NJD's speed.  So not sure to really see how Miller would have helped.

Miller is a better player than any forward on the Rangers.  Why wouldn’t he have helped? Miller is a beast and would have given them a powerful one/two punch up the middle.  Trochek is a pretender compared to Miller…

That’s right. Reminds me of when the Avalanche acquired Selanne and Kariya. They were terrible. The Rangers should have used those assets to acquire better glue guys

Didn’t they get Motte as a glue guy from the Sens? Always liked him.

The Motte line was the best 5-on-5 line for the Rangers tonight, by a country mile.

For me, it didn't feel like Rangers got in their faces enough. They played the skill game against the Devils and lost out on speed as you said.

Trouba didn't throw any series defining hits like he did last year.

Their forwards all played the finesse game.

That was such a gratifying win as a Devils fan.
Really impressed with Schmid.

Enjoy the run, they're the funnest team remaining in terms of style.

Speed not a Miller asset though.  It's not because 1 doesn't work that the other would be any better.

NJD is probably the fastest team in the league and create primarily off the rush.  Game 1 was probably a bit of nerves and Ruff adjusted for game 2 by having them play more physical.  Didn't make sense and NJD played into NYR's game.  They went back to their identify for game 3 onwards.

The Rangers went 1-18 on the power play in the last 5 games.  You don’t think Miller could have helped them on the PP?

The Rangers traded for a bunch of soft, over the hill wingers who didn’t do squat in the series.  Kane and Tarasenko combined for 1 goal in the last 5 games.  Trochek is not even a 2C.  He had one point in the entire series.

Miller would have given them the extra edge to win the series.  He certainly would have helped them more than those soft over the hill wingers they traded for.  And quite frankly, Trochek isn’t even good enough to hold Miller’s jockstrap…

Who know what could have happened.

I also would think Miller would have been a better TDL acquisition for NYR.

What can they do though? Their best players (except Fox) are old. And their young high picks stink. They might need to deep dive rebuild.

Good thing we didn’t accept their chaff for JT.
Drury looks a lot less smart now then he did back then.
