Wait, doesn't Alberta pay less taxes?

Don't they advertise how great it is to live and work there?

Anywhere that needs to advertise how great it is to live there probably isn’t that great.

Is it? Last time I was in Calgary it didn’t seem much cheaper. Maybe it’s just the store I was in.

It’s all over the news today. Stores selling masses online, facebook groups forming and sending pickup trucks to return with full loads and sharing the fuel cost.

Being purchased by just about every province you can name.

I think it is particularly applicable to the high end expensive spirits. BC gubberment is losing millions of dollars.

Legally it is bootlegging to transport between provinces for personal consumption however it’s difficult to monitor and prevent.

Interesting. I can’t blame Albertans for needing cheaper booze.

Well well. Seems like everyone is wanting out of Calgary these days.

The Calgary Flames have made forward Tyler Toffoli available for a trade, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

The Flames are in the midst of a shakeup, after having missed the Stanley Cup playoffs this past season. The team has already brought in a new GM in Craig Conroy and a new head coach in Ryan Huska.

Toffoli, 31, has played the past two seasons with the Flames after he was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens during the 2021-22 season. He has one season remaining on his four-year, $17 million contract.

The Scarborough, Ont., native picked up 73 points (34 goals, 39 assists) in a full 82-game season in 2022-23.

This is great for Calgary, as they can fire sell some really good assets and rebuild. That Huberdeau contract isn't even bad if they are rebuilding.

Calgary can sell players from every position and get 1st rounders, 2nd rounders, prospects, etc...

At least that's what I would, just like Winnipeg (but winnipeg doesn't have as much unless they trade Pionk and Conner).

Adding a bunch of players to the market where teams are already desperate might actually help us out considering the OEL buyout.  There will be bargains

That said, we’re likely still trying to sell a winger so this might hurt us there unless Calgary is interested.

How long before Huberdeau wants out

He can want out all he wants. He’s a 50-60 point soft, selfish, toxic in the room winger who is paid 10.5 x 8 and he plays like the old man he is. He’s not going anywhere. Worst contract in the league by a lot.
