Just test drove a Hyundai Elantra N. Boy howdy is that a fun car.

this isn’t the actual car but mine was identical. Full load. Tight. But definitely had this “ it’s going to cost big bucks “ feel to it when replacement time comes around. I traded my Tacoma TRD for it and some cash. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up ironically it scared the guy as much as it did me.

Had fun seeing Abby destroy the Moose 7-0. What a dominant game.
-
Best game I've seen in a long time. I was really impressed with the speed, the forecheck and the offensive creativity. Woo played well and Klimovich is looking more consistent in his focus and effort. I also like Karlsson's hockey sense and Rathbone's offensive instincts. But, as long as Wolanin is dominating, Jack won't log as many minutes as he did last year. Also was nice to see Silovs playing with poise and confidence.

Based on a rough (and fairly high standard) estimate of needing a .600 point percentage to make the playoffs, we need to have a record of about .650 from now on to make the playoffs. An example record would be 42-21-8.

Edmonton has comfortably made the playoffs the last three years, having finished 2nd in the division. With McDavid and Draisaitl in their prime I'd be surprised if they missed unless they experience significant injuries.
I reckon we'd have an easier time with Edmonton than Calgary, Calgary should grab the 1st or 2nd divisional spot imo. Them and Vegas are off to great starts. Realistically if we perform well we're probably in the mix for a wildcard spot or jockeying for that third divisional spot with Edmonton and LA.

The current active ironman streak holder for Canucks is Oliver Ekman-Larsson...at 61 games.

Pretty great 2022 Canucks Hype video YouTube just recommended to me. Doesn't have enough views, so I'm sharing it here:

@CRAZY_4_NAZZYNice! Didn't know it was yours, but I figured it could be a CDCer. It's well done.
EDIT: Oh not yours, gotcha, haha.

@-AJ- ooh no, its not mine, just was saying thank for sharing the video for us to see haha

I somehow passed my CPA CFE. Still having trouble believing it's finally over.
I still have to get experience to become a CPA, but the worst of it is over.

Guy goes to his lawyer and asks what is 2 plus 2? Lawyer says it depends on a number of factors but we will try to convince the Judge it is 4.
Guy goes to an engineer and says what is 2 plus 2? Engineer pulls out a slide rule and says I think I can prove without a shadow of a doubt that it is 4.
Guy goes to his accountant and says what is 2 plus 2? Accountant closes the door, pulls down the blinds, leans in and says, what do you want it to be?

@fanfor42...that's some Enron kind of accounting.

Does anyone know a good source for zone entry and exit stats? I'm having trouble sourcing this data.

Nothing like getting 4 hours of sleep on night before a 5-hour exam... #insomnia

@-DLC- Yeah, I've had troubles with insomnia for most of my life, but I've found that it can be largely mitigated by allowing myself to sleep in. I'm blessed to have a job where I can often start a lot later and it's helped me get a lot more sleep over the past few years.
Unfortunately, I have to arrive at the testing location at 8:15 for all three days of my CPA common final exam. I do wish there was more flexibility in the business world for night owls like myself sometimes. Tomorrow is the last day, so hopefully I get enough sleep that I don't pass out, haha.
-
Well, hang in there. almost done. It would be nice if you could select a time from a few options.
I haven't been able to sleep in for YEARS. The latest is usually 8:00...I usually don't feel tired but since COVID I'm wiped.
I've been falling asleep during the hockey games and keep missing the endings.

Went to a Giants game tonight. Zack Ostapchuk looks really good. I wonder how high the Senators are on him.

My girlfriend has season tickets so I was at the game too. You can see the sheer talent and skill every time Lysell gets the puck, but Ostapchuk is such a fun player to watch. All effort every shift and makes things happen in all 3 zones. I tend to think of him as a bigger, more skilled Tyler Motte.
I used to work out with Damian Palmieri so I can’t really judge him in an unbiased manner. Is he a guy who has a chance to break out offensively once Cotton’s gone? He’s a genuinely good dude and works his a$$ off outside of the rink so I really want to see him make a name for himself, especially if he can find an NHL team to take a flyer on him in a later round. Aside from a few gaffs (you could see the hole in the ice he tripped on from where we were sitting, not sure you can blame him for blowing a tire on the GWG), I’ve felt he’s played really well in these playoffs.

LA is on pace for 96.2 points. If we win 7 of 8 remaining, we get 96 points, so a 7-0-1 record is probably the worst we can do and still make it reliably.

@Elias Pettersson Yeah, I'm not convinced it's 100%, but I think if we go 8-0, I'd give us pretty strong odds, something like 85% to make it. LA would have to do pretty well outside of losing to us and Vegas would have to do even better, though they don't have any more games to lose to us. 7-1 if we beat LA probably gives us about 50-60% odds in my estimation.
LA currently holds the tie-breaker with 35 ROW vs our 33 ROW, but if we win 7 games, there's a decent chance that we catch or pass them.

Any idea on how to track the kind of good defense guys like Hughes and Makar have? I've struggled to find good metrics in basic or advanced stats to show their defensive profficiencies. Neither guys block many shots or have unusually exceptional advanced stats that I can find, but maybe I'm missing some.

@Rubik Haha that's what my friend keeps telling me. He keeps talking about how great Makar is all around and I struggle to believe it since I can't find any statistics to support it. He's not the only one who says so though, so I figure there must be some stat or two that helps capture what Makar (or even Hughes) does defensively.
-
Simply watching Makar play, I don't think he's the strongest guy defensively - makes a lot of risky plays and gambles a lot offensively, but he's not bad (think Barrie). I think they're defensively actually quite similar - Hughes has a quicker, smarter stick on defence and on the PK but obviously Makar is supreme offensively.

I can smell the panic. Everyone else is doing stuff and we're not!

Sabres win! Vegas loses!

Fun fact: The oldest living NHL Canuck is Marc Reaume, who just recently had his 88th birthday. The oldest all-time NHL Canuck was Ron Stewart, born in 1932, who played over 10 years for the Leafs in the 50s and early 60s. Stewart passed away in 2012.

Still really hard to make the playoffs. Based on catching the Stars at .574, we need to go about 20-10-2 to make the playoffs. Keep winning, boys.
-
With no games until Thursday, some teams will finally catch up to us in games, making the standings look more accurate.
Edmonton is the current bottom of the playoff line at .567. We need a .651 point percentage for the rest of the year to get up to that level. Under Boudreau this year, we've been .667. Since January, we've been .531.
An example record that might catch us up to Edmonton would be 19-11-5. Alternatively, if we won our next seven straight games, we'd be at about Edmonton's level.
-
This was a really risky move by Fedorov, but it worked. Could this actually be worth it? A 4 on 3 powerplay is very powerful.

That's a weird rule @Roberts. I wonder why they put that in place?
-
@-AJ-im guessing they don't want to encourage teams to try to get the extra attacker advantage but still get a point regardless of the outcome.

Just had the most physically painful experience of my life getting wisdom teeth extracted.
Not sure the sedation worked properly...
-
Just wait till you have to get a chalizon removed… it is basically blocked oil in the upper or lower eyelid. I had one in my left eye and I looked like Hannibal lector for at least 3 weeks.
Anyway to remove it the eye doc has to turn your eye lid inside out with clamps and drain it with a scalpel.
The needle and the fact I could still feel pain after when my eyelid was being cut was the most painful experience in my life.
Here is the surgery:
-
Had my wisdom teeth removed in my early 20s. They put me under and after I woke up I really wanted to go to Taco Bell! I got pain medication afterwards and went grocery shopping a few days later and left half my groceries at the store after paying for them. I was so out of it that I walked back to the store to retrieve my groceries.
-
@brilac I may seriously look at being completely put out if I get my upper ones removed in the future.

As many predicted, Edmonton has continued to crap the bed and is now behind the Jets in point percentage, making the Jets our new target to catch for the playoffs.
We now only need to win four straight games to catch the Jets in point percentage. That would give us a record of 20-15-3 for a .566 point percentage. The Jets currently have a .561 point percentage.
-
The sad part is Holland has not fixed the problem. He's made it worse.
$9.25 million for Nurse?
$5.5+ million for Duncan Keith?
Edmonton needs young cheap players, and needs to fill it's roster, and move on with these big bloated contracts.
Oh...not sure Konovalov is the answer in net.
Maybe they need to trade with the Rangers and get Dylan Garand since Shesterkin seems to be the answer in goal for the Rangers.
-
Here's a mind-bender: Jaromir Jagr played against both Guy Lafleur and Connor McDavid in his NHL career.

-
@-AJ- he's still doing so well though, 20 points in 29 games, 2nd on the team (behind Tomas Plekanec), and all this as a 49 year old.
-
@Phil_314 Yeah I'm shocked at how well he's still playing, even if it is in just the Czech league.
-
As an update to some of my previous posts, now we can catch Edmonton with just 7 straight more wins! That would give us a record of 23-15-3 for 49 points in 41 games and a point percentage of .598. Edmonton currently has a point percentage of .594.
-
After our win and Edmonton's loss, we now only need eight straight more wins to tie the Oilers in point percentage!
We really need the West to get easier to have a serious chance. The Oilers are on pace for 98 points. For that to be the bottom of the playoff qualification is almost unheard of.
- Show previous comments 2 more
-
@JM_ Yeah, to go from .500 to .600 takes quite a bit, and my calculation assumes that Edmonton also continues to win at a .600 rate, so we're trying to catch a team that is still performing quite well.
That said, the Oilers have been struggling a bit more lately, so if they play worse than .600, it won't take us that much to catch them.
-
@King Heffy this, and also I would imagine that the Ducks will fall back to Earth at some point, hopefully rather sooner than later.
-
Currently, a .607 point percentage is the playoff line. We're at .484, so we'd need to win about the next 10 games straight to have that point percentage. We're not as close to the playoff line as many are making it out to be.
That said, as Gabby has said many times, it's about being consistent over the long haul. Don't worry about winning 10 straight, worry about winning 2 out of the next 3 games and keeping that going.
