[Signing] Tryamkin goes to the KHL

Recommended Posts

Im going to try and put a positive spin on this even though Im very disappointed. Here are some positives.

1. We retain Nikitas rights until 2022 I believe so there is every chance he develops more playing big minutes and then returns.

2. This cleans up some of our clutter on the back end. Although we may not be able to trade 2 players we can still trade at least one. My guess is Sbisa, Edler, or Tanev are gone before the expansion draft. Or Canucks give Vegas a low pick to not pick one of our D. I hope Edler waives but i doubt it. Also we could trade a guy like Tanev or Hutton and then sign a UFA to fill in. DelZotto might be a good reclamation project. My guess is if we trade Sbisa

 Edler-Stetcher

 Hutton-Gudbranson

 Juolevi-Tanev

3. This may allow us to attract more college free agents such as Raddysh and/or Pionk. Tryamkin leaving opens up spots and these guys might see this advantage. Less depth.

4. This gives us another contract spot which we can use on Abols, Neill, Olson or another one of our prospects.

No, this is why you always make sure to have a few Russians around your organization.

Russians always seem to fair better in pairs or more.

Maybe hire Bure in a title-type role, just to help the Russians intergrate into the team

Yeah, but some of the "alleged" problems with Bure were related to just which Russians were hanging around with him.

Some perspective:

15 months ago we were a 75 point team, 3 leading scorers were the Twins and Bo.  Few had heard of Tryamkin, and even fewer knew the Stecher name.  Our most prolific defensemen were Hutton at 25 points and Edler at 20. Sbisa was statistically our best D at +5 in 1/2 a season.

Gudbranson has replaced Bartowski,  and essentially Weber was replaced by Stecher. Tram was an unexpected bonus, largely taking Gudbranson's minutes after he shut down.

Did Tram make that much of a difference?

This season we were a 69 point team, whose leading scorers are Bo and the Twins. Edler is still one of our 2 best point producing defensemen,  and Sbisa is still our best D man.

We'll lose one good defenseman in the draft, but the missing piece is going to be the 6th in our depth chart, as Tram would still have been next season. And if LV take Dorsett or Gaunce (or Biega), as has been suggested, Tram might not even have made top 6.

Maybe his agent saw the writing on the wall?

Dial 911, get the fire department out.

You will find all the "employees" now.

The "hate", "traitor", "#6 or 7", "family", "he lied", ....comments all from Canuck media personnel.

Just read his comments, why would he lie? Now mis-management is saying they offered him a two year deal, Family? On his grandfather was at the airport. How much did they offer him? When did serious negotiations start? Were they trying to hard ball him? Did he call their bluff, happened fast enough, supposed to be a decision made within the last 24 hours.

Hypothetically speaking and given the loss of NT: If we somehow end up with the # 1 or 2 pick would you be willing to trade that to a team like AZ for their two 1st round picks? We could get a player like Makar or Heiskenen at 4-5 and a good young forward at 27.

no

The ice-time reference has been twisted a bit. He was saying that the reasons for the differences in ice-time were not explained to him; not that he expected 20 minutes a night. That would be on the D coach. Or maybe his translator sucked.

He came into camp out of shape. How is management supposed to track his training? They told him their expectations at the end of the previous season.

How he would have played at the beginning of the season, without the fitness regimen first, will never be known. He also played inconsistently for much of the season even after getting in shape. He did show flashes of what could be on some nights.

Do you know how to read Russian, and is that what he said in the original recording?  (Given how poorly the translation was rendered into English I feel it's safe to say that it doesn't do his answer justice, like you pointed out).

If Nikita's gone for good I feel like the team messed this one up by not being clear with him about ice time distribution.  Previously I was thinking (along with everyone else) that he was being a diva and that as a young man (like in any role) he should be ready to earn his stripes and work his way up, but if he's not sure why they're doing what they do and he honestly fears that it would stunt his development then that's a much more legitimate reason to consider going elsewhere if he's guaranteed a bigger role.  Too bad he wouldn't have taken big minutes in Utica over a reduced role up in the big leagues, and given the pay difference one could hardly blame him.

Like you said he was showing flashes of potential so maybe management was getting ready to entrust him with more ice time with Stecher?  Hope he'll come back when they're both developed to make that scenario a reality.

The one bad thing from all this though is that we'll all probably have to go through a good couple of weeks of the clowns at TEAM1040 throwing out random conspiracy theories and baseless opinions of management.

Just what could be considered "baseless"?

Just what are the accomplishments of this mis-management group? Having players bolt? Hiring over the hill forwards and paying them 8 million a year? And losing a "protected" spot to boot? The great draft picks that aren't laying in the NHL?

Disappointing news for sure.  Cheering for Tram was one of the few positives this year and I will miss him.  Will be hoping he returns to Vancouver at some point.  Family concerns are tough to deal with when you live thousands of miles away.

It's what it is.  No real story here.

How did it come out that he refused to go to the minors? Would that not be an internal matter? Maybe trying to "shame" him into going. Was mis-management saying anything about it?

it was a part of his contract and JB was asked about it when Tryamkin wasn't playing, due to poor conditioning.  He answered it.  What did you expect him to do?

It seems the Canucks may need to look to free agency to get a solid #6,7,8 d-man this year.

Subban should get a shot at replacing Larsen but without Tram-man and the potential loss of Sbisa, this team suddenly needs some depth again at d.
