5th rounder.....unreal.

What’s just as unreal is how we got that 5th rounder. We traded Dale Weise (the Dutch Gretzky) and (we originally claimed Dale off waivers) for Rafael Diaz who played for 6 games until we traded him to the rangers for a 5th round pick, and now you know the rest of the story.

More this preseason than ever. We all know he’s not a 30 goal scorer but there’s also not much wrong with the way he’s played.

Nothing wrong... per se... but also nothing really good either. Doesn't show well when he gets benched at the start of preseason and then doesn't appear to have taken a step in his game. He needs to hustle more. Plain and simple.

Gaudette has to make this team. He's one of our best players. He makes us way better.

There is something they say about pre season heroes.

He deserves to start with the Canucks tho. There is no rule saying he can't send him down 3 weeks from now if needed.

Jake played a very good period. Seems weird that people keep dumping on him regardless. Has shown hustle, good forecheck, blocked a big shot, engaged. Shows that it is not about him at all, just a scapegoat.

you can tell he wants it, but the puck isnt going his way and admittedly, I havnt seen that speed and agility he has shown in the past.  Second game in a row so itll be a good test to see if he can make something happen.

Ive been very impressed with Breezer.  Making lots of good reads and showing good poise

He's had some moments, but I still don't feel he's particularly likely to be playing many games this year. He's either the No. 9 or No. 10 guy behind Biega, Fantenerg, and maybe Sautner.

So Gaudette has to be in the lineup opening night. It just wouldn't be fair to tell the kid "everyone has a shot of making the team", and then send him down after he legitimately earns a spot and outplays most of the rest of the roster.

It would be bad for the culture of the team as well.

People are clueless about Jake not being hungry .....

he loves hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, and every other food put in front of him

wake up Jake your career is passing you by

He's only 23 years old and already made almost $8 Million CDN playing hockey for the last 5 years.

Think about it, he was a millionaire by the time he finished high school. Most kids cannot handle that kind of success. Especially pro sports, you're expected to "grow up" a lot quicker than anyone else your age. That can be really tough and I think a lot of young professionals just look at the situation and say "well, I can quit right now and never have to work again so why bother?"

Not saying that's his mind set, but it could very well be creeping in there.

It would be ridiculous to send Gaudete to Utica, I can't see any way they could justify it.

He can clear, and really that is all that matters atm, until space is cleared.

The only message it sends, is that this is a business, and well, too bad so sad.

Gaudette has earned a spot on this team long term, that's really all that matters.
