Evidently, Hughes has unofficially won the Calder.

But nothing, and I mean nothing will stop people from claiming it is "in need of an asterisk"

Win's a win.  Subjective awards will always have their haters regardless who wins

On a side note, this is pretty impressive (top FO percentages in the league):

1. Sean Couturier (59.62% on 910 FOs)

2. J.T Miller (59.19%, 718 FOs)

3. Jay Beagle (59.14%, 678 FOs)

4. Claude Giroux (59.03%, 1123 FOs)

5. Tyler Seguin (58.16%, 925 FOs)

7. Bo Horvat (57.3% on 1483 FOs)

Scratch Beagle when we play the Wild! :P

Some of my picks:

Hart: Nathan MacKinnon (as of early March, this was my pick. Things might have changed in the few weeks after, but I doubt it)

Ted Lindsay: Leon Draisaitl

Calder: Quinn Hughes

Vezina: Connor Hellebuyck (I'd have Markstrom at 4th or 5th probably)

Norris: John Carlson (Was my pick as of late Feb, but Hedman, Josi, and Slavin were all close behind)

Selke: Haven't done an analysis yet, but this is a fun one to dig into

Lady Byng: Auston Matthews (MacKinnon runner up)

This is where Beagle is grossly underrated by Canucks fans.  Winning 60% of your faceoffs, generally in your own zone as he has is a very big asset to the team.

careful, the slide rule set on here will tell you that face-offs don't matter.

Probably has a lot to do with this guy:

Wouldn't a majority of award winners need an asterisks? This is out of the players hands, just like injuries. Boeser had a shot at the Calder until his season ended with a terrible back injury, does that mean Barzel should have an asterisks ...

Sometimes I feel people complain just for the sake of complaining, it accomplishes nothing, not even sure it make them feel good lol

Horvat has seen more faceoffs than Arya in Season 5

I would think he would be in strong contention among this class.

The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who best exemplifies qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.

The last 3 winners - Lehner struggled with alcoholism, Boyle was diagnosed with leukemia, Anderson had his wife battling cancer.

Don't really see Markstrom among the finalist.   Lindblom is battling cancer, Stephen Johns missed more than 1.5 years with concussion like symptoms, Bouwmeester had a heart arrest, Bobby Ryan came back from addiction and Corey Crawford missed significant time with vertigo.

A testament to not just their skill but the physical fitness it takes to take that many faceoffs, especially for Bo. You need insane core and leg strength in order to take so many and be successful, and also a testament to Manny's tutelage how to read the dot.  I remember reading somewhere that much of Manny's advice to his centers has been to get down as low as they can while keeping their gloves lower on the stick.  I did noticed throughout the year, most of the centers were all taking lower stances in the faceoff dot.

Even Bo suggests that his technique is getting really low and having his hands lower to generate more power.  I look at Malhotra's stance when he played he basically did the same haha.

Faceoff specialist Manny Malhotra assumes his favourite position ...

Marky unfortunately losing his father to cancer this year (and dealing with his father with cancer prior to the season) and still having such an incredible season for us (often the reason why we won games) should put him up as a finalist at the very least.
