have a feeling Kadri signing announcement in less than 30 hours
-
the more I look into it, the more I can see a case for Ilya Mikheyev being the best, or close to, PKing forward in the league last season

I wonder too. Mikheyev and Kerfoot were a fast, high pressure PK duo, and I don't know if Lazar really fits that role but maybe they go for a defensive/physical C with Mikheyev being a single high-pressure forward. It's wild tho - Mikheyev's SH CF% was 31.4 last year, that's nearly triple JT Miller or Teddy Blueger, 8 percent higher than Petey, 10 percent higher than Motte, essentially tied with Martinook who was part of the best PK in the league last year, and 11 percent higher than Vinny Trochek. Feel like the Canucks have to take advantage of trying that out, maybe with Petey (or trading for Kerfoot hehe). Maybe Mikheyev/Petey PK1 and Lazar/Dickie PK2 if Dickie makes the team or Bo if he doesn't - one high pressured, skilled PK and one dzone oriented, bigger PK. Still think there could be one more transaction before the season starts too.
-
I was thinking about Petey too but he’s likely 3rd/4th in the PK rotation. However, if IM cycles in with Petey later in the PK you could see some breakaways. Its really too bad the Canucks couldnt keep Motte. Canucks could have had 3-4 good PK fwd lines with a constant short handed threat.
Along with IM, I really hope Lazar can be a difference maker in the PK. It would really help spread the mins around.
-
Petey was insanely good during his short run last year and I've also seen numbers to support that. The caveat might be that may have been facing PP2 units and not PP1, but I'm not sure. Might be worth a try on PK1 though. Petey/Mikheyev could be a fun duo. The catch is that Petey has to learn how to win faceoffs.

Still need to find a spot for Dickinson, Joshua, potentially Pearson... too many bottom line type guys, not to mention Hoglander was in Bruce's doghouse for poor 2-way play last year... he's not your prototypical 4th line guy. If we landed ZAR I would hope we find a suitor for Dickinson and/or Hoglander and get picks or prospects in return to fill another need.
-
Yea, I like Joshua's outlook but I also don't think he should be handed a spot in the top-13, and after last year Dickie is fringe waiver wire depending on his camp IMO. The wings are stacked tho - right now Dickinson - Lazar - Hoglander looking like the most likely 4th line. Pretty good, especially if Dickinson had a big healthy summer, but ZAR would be an upgrade on Dickinson in that role IMO, and likely for half the cap hit or so (i.e. waive Dickie, sign ZAR to 1.125M= same amount against the cap).
-
wild that Evan Rodrigues is still unsigned. Would be a great pick-up if Miller is moved in a deal with no C returned.

@Chickenspear they should sign both. but ZAR should be signed right now. Cowards

@Captain Canuck #12 that's what I like to hear

Conor Garland, 3rd round pick 2024 for Scott Mayfield, JG Pageau. Who says no?

Vancouver says no
Garland is 26, Pageau is 29.
Garland is a much more prolific scorer. Don't get me wrong, I have liked Pageau ever since I first saw him on the Sens and I'd take him on our team in a heartbeat.
Scott Mayfield is a glorified Luke Schenn. I'd take him as well, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he would be over Schenn and Poolman.

the Rangers internal cap structure is pretty impressive going into next year
-
sign Aston-Reese u cowards

@Petey_BOI Very bold of you to assume he’ll be available at 32
-

@King Heffy oh!! didn't know about that - so it's me not the teams that were unaware of something. byeeee pauly

Prediction: Petey, Mikheyev, Podkolzin, Rathbone and Kuzie (ok ok) all with career highs in points next year.
-
people on CDC complaining that Tryamkin is brought up too much; but here I am still hoping Kirill Koltsov will come out of retirement and take us to glory

@VancouverHabitanthis car is still here tho. maybe he'll come back for it
-
@Curmudgeon wow such a curmudgeon ! he will come back from the dead to lead the canucks to glory Shiro - Krutov - Podkolzin . book it
-
ok Jason Dickinson is overpaid for what he has brought, but imagine being stuck with Nikita Zaitsev's contract? Brutal
-
Sign Evgeny Svechnikov. A big body who totally remade himself into a solid, two-way 4th line contributor last year when he wasn't on the top line filing in. Was asked to take on a role and did it well. Played hard every shift. 104 hits in 72 games. 1 year @ 850k

@Drive-By Body Pierce absolutely the D should be a priority. If Allvin can't sign a 850k depth forward while maintaining conversations about the D... he should be fired already lol. But I see your point, CDC may lose their minds.
-
@smithers joe he did last year, Heinen just took a paycut. I can't imagine options are looking great rn.
-
Hagel, Tkachuk/Huberdeau, Pacioretty & McDonagh, Dadonovx2 trades should be used a framework for understanding the value of age and cap in this flat cap era until there's a sure sign it's ending IMO.
-
hear me out.. a blockbuster trade that includes all of NSH's BC talent

CBJ doesn't have enough cap to activate both Texier + Jenner from LTIR, nvm re-sign Laine. What will they do?

Actually
There are 14 forward signed for a total of $43,000,000. Not including Laine and Bemstrom
There are 7 Dmen signed for a total of $ 22,800,000 . Not including Blakeburg
They have 2 goalies signed for a total of $6,700,000
Total signed players as above...............$72,500,00.......................plus
#1........Jenner, Texier, and Tarasov for a total of $6,325,000
So that is in the area of $78,825,000.
Not including Laine, , any signing bonus's, and Wenneburg's buyout
Laine made $6,750,000 last year...so he will probably be about the same
Wenneburgs buyout is $441,000
So a new total of $85,575,000 minus any players sent down, but not including any "potential" bonus's of approx. $2,475,000, which will have to slide, until next year
So yes, they will be under, but tight........next year might be a different matter
-
has there ever been single NHL trade that included more than 9 assets collectively? Thinking of the Lindros and Gretzky trades.
-
sens gonna make the playoffs if they can add one more D.
-
reminder: today the cap is raised by 10% (approx. 8m) until the start of training camp.
-
Aston-Reese for 4th line LW?
