forgot to pay a certain bill

and a certain board got cut off

and needed a day and half to sort things out

AJ how can it be logistical? Did they move the servers?

  2. In your opinion, was Brendan Morrison a first line centre in his prime?

    2. Ghostsof1915

He was much like Edler. Did the best he could but reality he was a 2nd line centre that was thrust into 1st line role. Maybe a 1b centre?

    3. -AJ-

In his top season, he was probably a bottom of the line 1st line centre, but aside from that, more of a good 2nd line centreman who could complement players very well.

    4. c00kies

You could even say he was the best of the line in playoffs, coming up with big goals.

  3. Go Knights Go! Hate the Jets. Loving how the "outcasts" are beating the spoiled rich kids.

Buttman gives them a sweetheart deal in the draft, and in addition allows Vegas to do side deals so instead of taking good players that were available, they allow them to do side deals.

The only outcasts in Vegas is the GM and their coach. The coach was fired by their stupid GM in Florida.

The GM was fired because he made a boneheaded deal with Nashville.

There's no outcasts. That's all media spewing garbage on an NHL spin.

This is not Columbus/Minnesota type expansion where they got 4th line plugs and are on some plucky luck with a former 1st overall goaltender.....

    3. Western Red

      Western Red

Ya, neither team is spoiled... Both are where they are on merit. I'll cheer for whoever wins the CF to win the SC.

MAF is about to implode.  Jets win this series in six.

      One decent forward UFA please.

Kane at the high end of acceptable, Bozak, Vanek, but only one.  No probs for some PTO's in case the young guys ain't ready. Wont panic if a Gaudette, Juolevi or Dahlen starts in Utica. They should play a fair bit in the bigs.

Utica should be pretty good? Lind, Jasek, Brisbois, Brassard, Sautner, Palmu, Gadjovich, maybe Dahlen etc.  Weak at C? Unless EP & Gaudette play there??

i heard that he wanted at least 2 years with a ntc. not sure if that is true.

  5. Jake and EP may eventually be great together. Jake has strength, speed, physicality that EP "lacks". EP has the IQ, playmaking, dangles that Jake "lacks".

      King Heffy

Sutter was 6th on the team in goals last year (including Vanek), while playing hard minutes in a shutdown role despite missing 20 games.  He was also one of our few + players.  He is far from the offensive black hole you portray him as.   LE wasn't far behind and wasn't a minus player either.  These guys won't create a ton of offense but they won't drag a line down due to their presence.

    3. coastal.view

i agree again with you heffy

      experienced veterans

can protect the new young talent

and ease their transition to the nhl

but that is not a very popular view point

      as you forecasated

      smithers joe

i can see them together down the road. imo, jake is going to be a good power forward, by the time EP, makes it big time on this team.

Smart dude but unremarkable at best. Feeds off of angering people with his comments to stay in the media and would not be any more relevant than your average university professor if he didn't.

    3. -AJ-

He's got a lot of interesting things to say and he knows his stuff when it comes to psychology. He tends to ramble on about theories and conjecture when it comes to philosophy and I don't often agree with his philosophy, but I still find him very interesting to listen to anyways. I also enjoy his political opinions most often as well.

    4. Vanuckles

He's incredibly smart and makes a lot of good points often in his debate. I actually only started becoming familiar with his work recently so it's interesting seeing his name pop up on CDC. I'm on the same wavelength on a lot of what he has to say but the radical leftists are always on a witch hunt for anyone who doesn't agree with them.

  7. Yannick Weber. Wow.

    1. luckylager

He scored that exact same goal for us once.

      And that was it. Poof.

    2. Ghostsof1915

      Yah....but....they still lost.

    3. Alflives

He was a plus one too. PK was a minus two.

We are likely going to have Bo and Brock locked up for what Matthews and McDavid make.  That's clearly a win for us.

If he was on the fence about resigning before just wait until he hears how much of a massive disappointment he was in the playoffs.  I still think he wants out of there.

    4. Alflives

      @Tre Mac

Might the league want AM in Arizona?  Could he save that franchise?

    2. Jaku

      No love for Sammy.

    3. -AJ-

I'm not sold on him not being a #1 centre, but I think at best he'll be a fringe #1 centre. Maybe 60-70 points in his best years. Good, but not great as far as top line centremen go.

    4. Jaku

Sam isn't going to be a 1C. I love Sam and I will always cheer for him there is no other player I have followed so intensely and for so long.

His development hasn't gone the way a lot of people thought it would. He won't be that perrenial 70+ point center. He's more than likely going to stay as a wing and be a 55-65 point player. I could see 70+ as a career high.

  12. Is it bad I can't wait for next season to start already?? This is going to be a long off season...

  13. 19 y/o Sergachev defenceman has the same number of points as 22 y/o Drouin winger. Yikes.

@J-23Why?  The Canucks are almost as bad as the Sabres!

    3. J-23

      I don't know, I like that kid.

    4. SabreFan1

I think he'll do well in his career.  I just don't want the Sabres to rush him into the lineup and burn a year off of his contract.  The Sabres aren't a playoff team and won't be for another 2-3 years at the least unfortunately.  It all depends on how quickly Jason Botterill can build up a decent roster.

  15. Here's how I see it: We paid nothing for Vanek and Holm ergo Benning got us Leipsic and Motte for free. That's a win in my books :canucks:

      @zzbottom who are you addressing?

    3. zzbottom

      lol the person I quoted?

    4. Fateless

@zzbottom - I'm not sure how I'm being hyperbolic. Perhaps my opinion of a good draft is overstated because of our franchises historically terrible at drafting, but Benning has been very good so far based on how our prospects are projecting.

Boeser has been fantastic. Tryamkin has been fantastic (issues with him not returning are irrelevant to Jim's choice to draft him), Virtanen has been admittedly a bad pick. However, Benning picked Pettersson who has been shatting SHL records set by the Sedins and Peter Forsberg and hes outpacing William Nylander by a wide margin. Lind and Gadjovich are looking like steals based on their draft position. DiPietro and Demko are both doing very well for their draft positions.

Overall Benning has done great with the draft. Giving him more bullets in the chamber would only be a good thing for this team.

  16. Does Ryan Strome remind anyone else of a younger Brandon Sutter?

  17. Why doesn't Virtanen hit anymore? He's looking like Mason Raymond out there :(

    1. Ghostsof1915

Garrett made a good point this morning. Jake seems to think he has to score and use his speed. He pointed out he can be physical and score, it’s not mutually exclusive.

  18. Dreamt that we drafted Dahlin, traded Tanev for Cal Foote, and Tryamkin came back:

    #dreamon

Reggie has no idea what he's talking about but hey that's cool.  Some of us only see him 27 times a season in Kelowna and not just on stats sheets or 3 WJC games

    3. TheHitman

I don't see the point of trading Tanev if we get Dahlin tbh. He'd be an ideal partner for Dahlin...

    4. luckylager

I can hear the call now. On the PP

"Dahlin to Dahlen, back to Dahlin, to Joulovi. Fake shot. Back to Dahlin, passes to Dahlen. To Boeser, to Dahlen, Pettersson shoots, blocker, recovered by Dahlen, to Dahlin, shoots, tipped by Boeser.. GOOOAAALLLL!!!

  20. Do the Canucks have the most Swedish players on their team in the NHL?

    1. -AJ-

In terms of players who've played a game for the Canucks this year, they're at 4. Two teams are at five, being the Predators and the Blues.

  21. Would you rather have Clayton Keller or Matthew Tkachuk?

i agree with the gallagher being worst comment

he just irritates me more than others

i can almost always predict what he will say

and he will take positions contrary to an earlier position

if it suits his anti canuck viewpoints

    3. Wilbur

Gallagher loves skill and he's grumpy when the Canucks aren't doing all they can to get skill.  He was by far the happiest (well, happy for Gallagher anyway) when the Sedin's and Vigneault were the Kings of Vancouver.  He has high expectations and a realist, which can come off as being anti-Canuck, but if you know that slant going in, he doesn't seem so doom and gloom.

    4. smithers joe

      smithers joe

tony had a grudge against pat quinn. he used his column to attack quinn. every column. one game, the canucks won like 7 to 1. tony's column said the canucks played well, and then added in, no thanks to pat quinn. when pat died, tony wrote, i don't know why it took me so long to like him. i always thought the province should fire him for that but maybe he sold papers. i quit buying the rag.
