-Vintage Canuck-
Quote For the moment, the price for Jimmy Howard appears to be high. The Detroit Red Wings have made it clear they want at least a first-round draft selection in exchange for the veteran goaltender, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman wrote Wednesday. Howard is a pending unrestricted free agent who boasts a .923 save percentage in 22 games this season. The 34-year-old's contract carries a cap hit of $5.29 million. In late November, TSN's Darren Dreger reported that the St. Louis Blues were keeping tabs on Howard, but that the netminder would come at a considerable cost. Howard's in his 13th NHL season - all spent with the Red Wings. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1676099

EternalCanuckFan
Who's the last goaltender to have been traded for a 1st Round pick? Cory Schneider?
rekker
Jimmy H has been having a good year but I dont think he's worth a first.
RetroCanuck
Doubt they get a first, but they should get a 2nd+mid level prospect.

Fredrick Andersen was traded for a late 1st (30th pick in 2016) and a 2nd in 2017 in 2016. Jimmy Howard is not worth a 1st. Maybe a mid 2nd at best, but not a 1st. Doubt a team bites unless that team has multiple 1sts.
xereau
He's been bad for a few years at least, a part of the problem in Detroit. These 22 games and an over performing team in front of him can not hide this fact. Way over priced.
Elias Pettersson
TO might bite. He's a UFA at the end of the year so it won't affect their cap next year. And they still have some room this year. He's probably an upgrade over Andersen...

Gnarcore
Cool. I want to get lucky with the 21 year old Swedish girl at work tonight at the Christmas party but that is about as likely.

Warhippy
Length of contract aside. Why do they think he's worth more than Luongo?

They analysed in detail the system Babcock wanted to implement and the type of saves their goalies would most likely have to make. They specifically targeted Andersen. Andersen has one of the best records in the league.

Nuxfanabroad
I'm unclear..is Detroit actually a city? Or some mysterious little suburban, quaint village, nestled on the border of Dystopia?

Original six players are pumped by the media while they continually dumped on Lu's value while we were trying to deal him.
cyoung
Oooo a first for Howard on an expiring contract? This doesn't make sense to me. Lol good luck...
