After the Stanley Cup, before the DRAFT: 1. Trade Schaller and Goldobin to WASH for Burakovsky 2. Trade Burakovsky and Hutton to MINN for Zucker 3. Trade Tanev, Dipietro, WASH 6th Rd pick to TOR for Zaitsev, Kapanen and 2nd 4. Trade Zaitsev, Granlund and Baertschi to CAR for Hamilton 5. Trade Sutter, Biega, Spooner to BUFF for STL 1st Rd pick 6. Trade Hamilton and 2020 6th Rd pick to WPG for Trouba 7. Trade Trouba, 1st Rd pick (#10), STL 1st Rd pick, 3rd Rd pick to NJ for Vatanen, 1st (#1 overall - Jack Hughes) , BOS 2nd Rd pick, NASH 2nd Rd pick 8. Trade Vatanen to EDM for Puljujarvi and 1st Rd pick (#8) ... trade down (and get more picks) to eventually draft Victor Soderstrom (RHD) 9. Trade NASH 2nd Rd pick, BOS 2nd Rd pick to VGK for Miller, 3rd and 5th Rd picks - CAP dump for VGK After July 1st 10. Trade Eriksson and 2020 4th Rd pick to OTT for 2020 6th and 7th Rd picks - Bonus paid, helps OTT get to CAP floor paying only $3M/yr ($6M/yr CAP hit) 11. Sign Panarin $9M - 7 years 12. Sign Karlsson $13M - 2 years (ala Mats Sundin) - high payout while Pettersson and Hughes x2 are in Entry year deals; Karlsson becomes UFA at age 31 (still marketable) 13. Sign Jamie Benn $1.4M - 2 years - LHD depth to take pressure off of Juolevi to make the team 14. Sign Kapanen $3.5M - 2 years CAP HIT $83.213M (with relief from Roussel on IR to start the season) ... The first trade started a little funny, and then it just got funnier. Quantity doesn’t equal quality...Hamilton for a bag of pucks or wasted cap space was a good one...Kapanen can sign a bridge in TO for that money and stay...have read some strange ones on this site but this thread just might take the cake. Bizzaroo stuff. And on top of this the thread title has Jimmy as A Grate...you know a drain cover... he’d be more like Jimmy the Gratest GM of ALL-TIME if he pulled this off.
