He’s very similar to Virtanen in his build the biggest difference between the two is his drive and hockey IQ. I was sceptical about his Hockey IQ at first but it seems pretty obvious that he’s got that. That backcheck thing he does.. its like every single time the other team has the puck LOL.
Popular Post MJDDawg
I'm starting to love this kid more and more. Everything you want in a player. Goods skater, excellent hockey IQ, always moving, goes to the dirty areas, great shot...on and on. But what constantly impresses me when I see video of him, whichever league he's playing in, he just seems to be the hardest worker on the ice. He's like a hungry dog, and opposition players with the puck are wearing milk-bone underwear. 5 3

Can’t wait to see him unleashed in a few years joining his pack of top dogs! Carrying the Dog Sleigh all the way to the cup! While I agree with everything you said there but I see Podz as a Siberian Husky, Saint Bernard or a Bernese mountain dog. Elias Pettersson
This kid is gonna be a beauty. Definitely will be one of the top 4 players in his draft. Could he be the best ala Pettersson? We will have to wait on that for a few more years.

Popular Post CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Skill aside, holy heck the hustle and tenacity in Podz is insane. Literally doesn't have another gear, it is just straight up high intensity in every aspect, zone, and part of the play. Travis Green is going to love this kid. The way he plays is going to help continue shatter that stereotype that Russians are all skill no hustle. Very impressed how internally motivated this kid is to play responsibly, tiredless effort, while accompanying it with skill. literally reminds me of a skilled but tenacious Antoine Roussel.

Popular Post Stierlitz
SKA-Neva (VHL) lost to Neftyanik (which means Oiler in Russian) 2-3 in OT. Podkolzin with 15:28 of ice time, no point but he definitely deserves primary assist on the 2nd Neva goal for his l-o-o-o-ng pass to Savunov (see video below) behind two defencemen. +1 but he should get +2 because Podkolzin was on the ice for both Neva goals and no opposition goal. 3

Hossa was a 60+pt player virtually his entire career... one could only hope. 1

Podz is kind of a unique player, because of his mean streak. 1

One would say Dogged Brindamour, Horvat, Stone etc.... Strong self driven PF types that play a complete game. Now we can see why Podz was ranked so highly early. A great selection at 10. He will be a guy that becomes a top 5 pick in the redraft, Hogs becomes a top 20 pick and Keppen moves up into the top 45. Just another JB and Brackett draft. Gotta say with Miller, Ferland and Pearson on the roster and Podz, Keppen, Lind and Gadz in the system does JV have a place here long term? Time to boost his value and see if he can bring it or not. Most likely as part of a package for a top 6 player. I would really like us to go after Reaves next offseason. Ferland, Miller, Roussel, Reaves, Tryamkin. Ohhhhh boy.
