A whole lot of junk there! we actually have the 2 best players in that list in Granlund and Hutton, they will find NHL jobs somewhere

nuck-lifer
Not qualifying Poo, Granny and Hutty means we will be a vastly improved team next year.... going with that philosophy although i still hope Hutton agrees to 3 x 3 Mil or so..
brian42
I’d prefer Granlund over Goldobin and would like to keep Hutton but it’s nice to save that cap space on Hutton.

Thanks, a veritable wasteland of draft busts or nearly-weres. Rieder and "McDavid's winger" Rattie both gone, guess Edmonton goes back dumpster-diving in the bargain bin this off-season to replenish their forwards. Dubas likely to join him. 1 1
GhostsOf1994
If we weren't so crowded with forwards i"d take a flyer on ritchie out of dallas.

That little depth on defense there, and he still doesn't make the cut. Remember when everyone was freaking out that we were letting him go too soon? If Subban can't make that D which currently projects to have only two NHL players on it to start next season, he might as well head to Europe.

The kid has wheels, smarts, hands, is tough and strong for his size but is just too small for D. Playing and trying to learn to play D in a big man's league has likely made him at least very good defensively as a forward. I am not sure why no one has every given him that opportunity. He's got a better chance of being successful at his size in the NHL as a forward than as a dman. oldnews
I'd probably swap Granny for Boucher - but perhaps they still sign Granny at less than the 1.5ish he made last year? In any event I'd have him in around the 13 spot in the present setup, not including younger guys like Gaudette, so he's on the cusp regardless. With Boucher though, they're probably thinking of goal scoring for Utica.
VegasCanuck
Still hope we can sign Hutton. I think 2.9 - 3 million per for 3 years and we probably sign him again. Not sure he's going to find much better in the market right now

In my view he's a tweener and as such more of 5/6 depth guy, and as such he's not worth the 4.5 needed to retain him with a qualifying offer. He's big but doesn't use his body enough to be a punisher Good skater and decent offensively but not a pp specialist Decent defensively but no Tanev/s defensive specialist. I'd be fine with us running with Sautner and Brisbois who are due for an opportunity and do everything well also. Hutton has become redundant and unless he's willing to take 5/6 money we don't need him, he's never going to be a difference maker. Problem is he is a 2-2.5M guy who could get 4+ in arbitration. Could still sign him at appropriate value.

kloubek
Why qualify Boucher over Granlund? I am scratching my head on that one - I thought Granlund was fine as a 4th line guy. Not sure what Benning sees in Perron, but whatever. Edited June 25, 2019 by kloubek
