Trebreh
I think Goldobin will be signed but will be packaged with a Beagle.. or Sutter or Beartschi as a sweetener.
Maniwaki Canuck
About the cap implications of this deal: don't we just need to paper Petterson, Hughes and Demko (who is showing up as waiver exempt on Capfriendly) down on opening day to make room for Roussel before putting him on LTIR? Their combined salaries essentially equal his, namely 3 million. Add that to the 5 million of cap space we've got on a 24 man roster, and another 1 million saved when we bring that down to 23 and we end up with around 9 million in cap space to sign Brock and Goldie. There really isn't a problem until Roussel gets back, like people have been saying. Am I missing anything here?
Popular Post -DLC-
27 minutes ago, ItTakesAnArmy said: It is rebuilding, last year most were saying be patient and prospects, well no prospects and suddenly done? The team has got bigger, it needed to but now the team is going to jump on the shoulders of 71 game Pettersson and 145 game Boeser and ride them to what? People get stuck on "it is"....this or that. It is what it is. It is ever changing according to needs. Situations. I prefer this way, with an ongoing analysis rather than a set plan with a timeline down the road that doesn't leave room for change. Injuries happen. Some players don't pan out as hoped. When you rebuild anything, you may come across situations that require tweaks along the way. Maybe even changes of direction. Happens. Damn right we'll ride the guys on the roster - it's how it works. You plan on them playing, not on "not" playing. They're young, chomping at the bit and proving themselves to be ready and capable. Why not? Quote The future being sold out you bet ya, ever here of retirement savings? Most people do so why is planning for the future is suddenly thrown out the window because of desperation? Did poster here really think this team was on the cusp of cup run last year? It's not desperation as much as realizing and recognizing the plan is moving up as the potential is there to do things earlier than planned. People use RRSP's all the time as things come up. Retirement plans are also for aging individuals without swapping in/out others. We have young guns in the line up and the retirement thing doesn't apply to them. Our future is in the here and now and anyone not on board is waiting for ?? Quote What is the expected outcome of these deals? Eriksson, how to get rid of that, Sutter, easier but still, all these clause contracts for a team that has only 4 players under 24 on it last year. Do you think it is a good idea to rush the young players? To pressure them so much? What if any one of them gets hurt? It depends on the players. Petey isn't a guy you can put on the shelf or hold back. It's pressure that he invites and thrives on. You do a lot of "what if" - that's called generalized anxiety. I have it and am learning how to address it (rather than worry about the what if's). What if they don't happen? Then we spent all this time and energy worrying instead of enjoying. Quote What will this team do in the Expansion draft, who do you not sign? It is no wonder this team is so bad, there is no fore thought or planning involved. This is just untrue. It's just that you are demonstrating zero flexibility where in the team is creatively changing the markers as things unfold. In life you sometimes have to do that to stay from having stale, old ideas. Especially when your plans rely on others. Real time plans are what's necessary in this thing as the league and teams change. Players become available as other teams face situations - you can't plan for that. But you can take advantage of it. Quote The next GM, if that were to happen today is cornered with 8 clause contracts, less draft picks, two players now that may have concussion issues and a group of vets that all have to be replaced within 3 years, but don't plan on that just sign whoever for whatever and who cares? Winning isn't important, participation is, they should all get a ribbon, oh look he tried hard give him another million. Building a winner might be hard but building a loser is much easier, who do the Canucks beat out for a playoff spot this season? Name a team? Colorado?, StLouis? Calgary? San Jose? Vegas? Dallas? Arizona? some of these made big improvements as well and some didn't have to they were already 20+ points better. The perfect roster once on this road JB put the team on, is to rebuild for at least 4 to 5 years, the new NHL makes getting good top end draft picks a must to stay under the cap, a good roster has more than 4 good players under 24 on it. Sigh. There is no set in stone "way". Despite you being stuck on one. Quote Ferland helps if he stays healthy no doubt but the cost now counts in the cap and the clause. |f he stays healthy? Every single player on every single team is subject to that. Not just the Canucks. What if all the other teams break down and we don't? Honestly, relax and enjoy the ride a bit? You're missing a lot of good stuff by being stuck on "one" idea rather than embracing changes that you didn't "plan" on. 3 1 5

When I came to CDC I was a very frustrated fan, who was blinded to the future plan of JB. Gotta say you’ve always pointed out the plan. Took my a while to accept, but I see it now. Our next decade looks really good. 2 3

SilentSam
Ferland has all the tools and attributes that a power forward needs in this era.. clean hitter, nose for the net.. game changer.. He will change the “air” in a game if it is need.. In this same circle, Miller, Leivo, Pearson, Myers, Beagle, Rousell.. now Ferland.. you got my back, I got your back. 1 1
Popular Post Nigerian
I love how this guy single handedly man handled the Canucks in 2015. Everyone hated him now everyone’s on board with him playing here. I know he’s the type of player you love him when he’s on your side and hate him when he’s not, but It’s still just too funny to me. When was the last time we signed/acquired a player who the team/fans had beef with in the past? 2

I have a feeling they might both come out of their shell a little bit with the physicality now that they have backup. I was just making up a chart for organizational depth and I've honestly never seen anything like it: Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Miller Baertschi - Sutter - Leivo Motte - Beagle - Virtanen Edler - Stecher Hughes - Myers Benn - Tanev Markstrom Demko Gaudette Biega Fantenberg Eriksson Goldobin Roussel (LTIR) Utica players we can call up this year: Juolevi Lind Brisebois MacEwen Schaller Chatfield In the pipeline: Podkolzin Rathbone - don't sleep on this kid. Projects to be a really good top 4 2way Dman imo. A player teams can win with. Tryamkin Lockwood Madden Hoglander Add woo to the pipeline... yes its an incredible line up/ depth. Johansson ended up in the hospital with a bruised lung after this hit.... and while you don't wanna ever see anyone get seriously hurt, a few guys that can throw down like that on your team and you'll be pushing guys back without saying a word. Can't help but watch Ferland almost destroying his left mcl/acl from 1:15. Beauty hit though but man the way Ferland fell gave me immense anxiety. He's the only on thats got decent value, and we have Leivo, Pearson, JT Miller, Roussel in December, Ferland. Utica has Linds and Gads, and Podz in 2 years. Virtanen and the guys I just mentioned are somewhat similar power forward types, somethings gotta give. I dunno. Just because you add Ferland doesnt make Jake redundant. For example, if just Ferland was on the team, people would complain that Ferkland isnt throwing the body every game because truth is, he doesnt. But having both Jake and Ferland gives you more physicality overall, like scoring. Plus JB has already said that they are not giving Jake away- it would have to be something very good, and that was before all the new acquisitions. My guess is they continue to develop him in the top 9, because he does add a good 2 way element to the team. Also on a side note, I dont think Goldy is as good as gone either. They also see upside as long as he can keep developing. I would bet Sutter is the gfuy they move since he is on an expiring contract
