Exactly my thinking. Although miller is a playmaker I just don’t like the makeup of that line. If both Goldy and Baer are out of the lineup we still have a serious lack of skill...

Was at the game tonight and a few thoughts.

 

Thought they had a great start to the game with the 2 goals, but after that, team looked like they coasted through the rest of the game and didn't seem very engaged.

 

Gaudette had a strong start to the game but kinda like everyone else fell into a comatose state.  Giving 6 unanswered goals was not good.

 

But its preseason, team still looks rusty overall and needs time to practice together in full lines and such. Not too worried honestly.

I only had a limited sample size. I heard the guys on the radio gushing over Graovac as well. He looked solid from what I saw.

 

The team sounds like they lost some steam in the second half of the game.

Benning has been promoting all summer the Pearson-Horvat chemistry.  This morning Green strongly hinted at a 3rd line of Eriksson Sutter Leivo.  Media has been going on all week about Baertschi being the odd man out with someone like Walker even asking if he'll be picked off waivers.

I agree. At least one of Goldy/Baer need to be in the Top 6 and by all accounts it should be Baertschi. The lack of skill is also why I think Goldobin is indispensable at the moment.

 

My forward lineup as it stands is:

 

Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser

Baertschi - Horvat - Miller

Pearson - Sutter - Gaudette

Eriksson (Roussel) - Beagle - Leivo

Scratches: Goldobin, Motte

(LTIR: Roussel)

 

Roussel takes Eriksson's spot once he's recovered and back in the lineup. Waive Motte if needed.

 

A package of Tanev and Virtanen are traded for an upgrade on a Top-4 RHD.

I know  eh Hirsch didn't understand  the word labouring   when the play bt play  guy said a canuck player was labouring to the bench , then  Hirsch goes on a rant how the word  doesn't make any sense  and the play by play guy had to read him the definition of the word  , I don't know  maybe it is the too many  pucks to the head

Demko is a bust change my mind. He has done nothing in the AHL and has done nothing in the NHL. Hes not improving he looks the same as he did the very first camp he ever played. Havent seen a single amazing save or a reason he should be an NHL or an AHL goalie. Total. Bust.

I see a lot of people in social media slotting Motte on their 4th lines. I don't think he's done enough to secure his spot in the lineup.

 

based on preseason performance so far, this is my starting lineup for our home opener. 

 

Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser <-- WCE 

Beartschi - Horvat - Miller <-- Bo will benefit having two playmaking wingers.

Pearson - Sutter - Leivo <-- good shutdown line with some offensive punch

Gaudette - Beagle - MacEwen <-- modern day nhl 4th line with size and skill.

 

Scratch: Virtanen

Trade: Goldy

Waived: Motte, Eriksson, Schaller

Nothing fancy just pushed his way through. Something I've been wanting to see Jake do. He's not going to do endless laps around the net.
