I have so much respect for her and how she presents everything to us, as well as how direct she is at answering ALL questions without dodging or throwing out rhetoric.  She's brilliant.  I really recommend everyone listen to her because she is giving us the straight goods.

Trump adamantly argued that the coronavirus would not come back in the fall with the same virulence that has this spring – saying that at most it would be “the embers” of the virus the country will have to deal with when the next flu season begins.

Quick question

I realize getting young aged kids ( K to 5 )  back to school full time would help get workers back to work.

But when these kids go back to the classroom  and are staying 2 metres away from each other....  How many can fit in a room at the same time... .  6-8  i would think.

So what do the other 20 kids in the class do.. where do they. go ? Who is their teacher ?

Having kids go half days or once a week surely won't help workers go back to work...

Whats the solution ?  Sounds like a bunch of 50+ yr old teachers may be heading to the ICU ......

Sounds like kids bring back virus to their parents and grandparents....

Is it worth it... ?

Especially that kids don’t have the discipline of self-monitoring their distance at all times.

Makes no sense.

She got voted in as mayor likely because her husband was the mayor of Las Vegas for a lengthy period of time.

Yeah, back in the day when I used to go to LV every year, Oscar was the mayor for like 10-15 years.

This is what it'll roughly look like to start.

It isn't in an effort to get parents back to work, it's to reach out to vulnerable students.  Things will have to be done carefully, especially the staff that work at the schools (lord knows most of my students haven't been ace social distancers by the sound of things).  At my site, I get the sense that we'll schedule students in for short enough that they won't get antzy.  Just get a quick hit of school so you can get a little bit more done at home, sanitize, and then repeat with the next group.  We'll see though, it really is a day by day process and things could get dialed back very quickly.

I mean who seriously is going to Las Vegas even IF it opens early like the Mayor want to?  Vegas locals rarely, if ever, visit "the main strip".  Sure there are those who will still go (heck, McGovern got 29 million votes in the 1972 US federal election but still got smoked by Nixon) but I doubt it'll be enough for them to even remotely be close to 'breaking even'.  Casinos know this  (various countries in 'lockdown', borders closed, etc.,).  Who will have money to gamble as well (eg., unemployment rates)?

Oh, I'm sure there would be no shortage of people that would go...and most of them would have a certain red hat somewhere in their suitcase.

I haven't looked into it, but hasn't Vegas been hurt by competition from places like online gambling, casinos on Indian land, etc.?  Cheaper to gamble there (don't have to deal with BS resort fees and other taxes that gouge the non-locals).  At least for those Americans.

I see something similar.  Here's what I think the timeline could be in the relaxing of the rules currently in place:

-  Beds Opened up for elective surgeries

-  Special needs students in limited class sizes go back (part or full time)

-  Regular Students in lower grades (K to 7) part time schooling (two days a week) smaller classes, Social Distancing if possible, No Recess or Play time

-  Regular Students in High School part time schooling 1 day a week, smaller classes, Mostly E-Learning

-  All Schools must be thoroughly cleaned every day (increase janitorial staff)

-  Non-essential retail opened up with social distancing measures similar to grocery stores limited number of people at any one time, possibly mandate face       mask use and the cleaning of hands with sanitizer before entering.

- Restaurants open up again but with spacing restrictions, limiting contact with servers (i.e. using note pads to order) hand sanitizers at every table.  Initially only allow members of the same household at a table

-  Large gatherings will still be discouraged (I think enforcement may be stepped up)  Social Distancing will still be in place when walking inside or outside.

-  Local amateur sports tournaments may be allowed if contact is minimal and number of spectators is limited

-  Unless a Vaccine is found, no major sporting events, festivals or large gatherings will be taking place.

If what happens in Vegas would stay in Vegas, all would be fine.  But that won't be the case.

That's kind of my sentiment as well.

I'd have no problem with these idiots putting themselves in harm's way by going to bars, beaches, and movie theaters....if it weren't for the fact that these idiots are probably going to be shopping in the same grocery stores as I do, which now puts me, and others like me, in harm's way.  So unbelievable selfish of them.

An argument was made tonight on the NBC Nightly News tonight that it is a blessing in disguise that the San Francisco 49ers didn't win the Super Bowl, otherwise they would've had a Covid bath and the California situation would've been immensely worse.

They also said that the first pets in America have tested positive. Humans can pass it to animals as now 8 tigers in a zoo and 2 cats have tested positive. They "don't think" that pets can transfer it to humans. I'm not comfortable with the "unknown", "right now"..............

They also say to pet distance as pets can give it to each other. So no, you shouldn't bring your pets to the park to play with other pets.

I would make the argument that pets can give it to humans as a spring jacket can carry it; not necessarily by mucus transfer but by carry transfer.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some pet owners on the side of parks talking to their dog and say: "Remember Chikouchikou you self-distance now. Good doggy" and send their dog run right into other dogs. And then of course, the licks on the mouth, you know... because...
